overall, it was satisfactory. TV was not working and it took the maintenance person over 1 hr to correct the problem. I have stayed at many marriotts in the past, would not be looking to stay in this hotel again.

As it turns out I've stayed in 3 different Mariotts in 3 different cities this past month. The one in Newport has some work to do to match the quality of the others. The employees never seemed very happy to be there. We were told we would have a harbor view which we had if you strained your neck from the right angle otherwise the view of the parking […] lot was what we had. Mattress was so soft you felt like you were rolling down into the center all night. Shower so weak couldn't get shampoo out of my hair. Towels paper thin. The location is wonderful. My reservation was for 4....2 double beds were requested. In all aspects of real estate, it is location, location, location. The Marriott has location covered. It is next door to the visitor's center and within close proximity to dining and shopping. The parking is on site and you can use self park or valet. We had a clean room with a view and the staff was as knowledgeable of the area as the staff at the […] visitor's center. PROS: Great location, nice sized room, large bathroom, reception and lobby staff are personable and professional. CONS: Hotel room doors are paper thin so you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways - not good when there is lots of traffic at 2 and 3 in the morning; bathroom was not very clean when we arrived and many of the amenities were […] missing. Bottom line - it's unlikely I'll stay at this Marriott again considering there are lots of nice inns close by that offer a more memorable stay with better service and often include breakfast for the same price as a stay at the Marriott. Our safe in the room kept beeping in the middle of the night. I finally called the front desk when I couldn't turn it off myself. They came up within 20 minutes but having a sleeping family in the midst of this was rather inconvenient.

I love this Hotel, clean, easy to get to and in the middle of everything. One tip - DO NOT GO ON ST. PATRICKS'S DAY WEEKEND!!. Drunk 23 yr olds ran the show. Any other weekend (I'm guessing New Years would be as bad) and this place is GREAT!

The service at this hotel was excellant. The bellman was so impressive, he serves as a role model for what all service industry careers should be. A valuable asset! The staff in general was good, hotel fresh and beautiful, rooms very clean, proximity to stores and restaurants was good and the area was safe. This hotel is wonderful and beautiful. The accomodations were great and the staff was friendly and very well trained. I had a luxurious spa experience located right on the premises. Room service was speedy with the food prices reasonable. The health club is very expansive with many machines. The hotel is a mineral water pool with no chlorine and warm. […] I had the greatest time (by myself) and next time will even bring my husband and daughter. A must visit hotel. My husband and I enjoyed this hotel very much. It was clean and convenient to everything we wanted to do. Can't think of anything that was an issue. We will definitely stay there again when we want to do Newport in the warmer weather.

Have stayed here before.... Much better room than last time. Just be sure to request an exterior room as many are interior with the room windows facing the interior hallways and elevators (very odd layout). Hotel is very clean. I wouldn't be surprised to see an update in the near future as he rooms and decor are rather dated.

The Management and staff were great. Our only complaint was the charges for wireless internet and if we wanted to listen to any music (other than the clock radio) it was $16 for 2 hours. Doesn't seem right.

Hotel was fine the only rooms available with KIng Beds had views of the hallways so you had to keep curtins closed. Called down for a taxi was told 15 minutes waited much longer then was told they couldnt promise one would come at all almost missed dinner reservations

This hotel is ok, the view in the rooms is very weird. We had a huge window in our room and when you opened the curtains it was the inside of the hotel! Thank god my children weren't with us on this trip because the entire hotel would have seen the inside of our room! I just don't get that concept. No food is included with this hotel not even breakfast! […] And the food there is very expensive and they charge you a room service fee too! From the moment we arrived the service was superb. It seemed there were more than enough ways to find whatever we needed. The restaurant food was great and the buffet breakfast 1st rate along with a relaxing view of Newport harbor; also close to shops. We didn't want to leave. Clean great bedding and service from the valet to the restaurant to the spa […] salon. I would categorize it as high solid 4 star hotel with 5 star service. My 15 year old immediately changed her clothing and her demeanor and was quite impressed with this special birthday treat that was clearly a cut above all the rest. Nicely done Marriott Newport! VEry disappointed in the fact that their pool and hot tub were under renovation. That is the MAIN reason we went there. They did decide to comp us but it was really disappointing. In this digital age, they should have been able to post something.

They weren't going to honor king size bed reservation! After I politely told them 3 times I had booked a room with King bed they made arrangements but were very rude.

We were given a room, get this, with our window facing where people get off the elevator. So no privacy if we wanted to leave the draped open. For the cost and were our room was, I would not stay here again.

I wanted to start out by saying, I found the hotel staff to very nice. Other the valet guy w/ the awful attitude when I first arrived, everyone was extremely nice and helpful thru out. The room was exspensive, and the view was less then desirable. Given a romantic get away, our view was overlooking the lobby, which had a catwalk for hotel guest walking […] right pass our bedroom window. The CD player didnt work when need be, minor item. Great loaction, hotel was clean.. I've travel for years, stayed at plenty of holets in time. The cost of the room should reflect the location, ocean view as advertised. The room was clean but a little musty maybe due to the humidity. Also there was an unsightly mess of all the wiring for the TV, WIFI hookup and lamps. It was very ugly and I'm sure with a little reorganizing all the wires and cords could be easily hidden to make the room more presentable. Other than that our stay was great. Enjoyed our stay. We asked for a room change because our room window viewed the elevators. Some confusion with the double reservation. Elevators were frustrating, sometimes went up instead of down and vice/versa.
