"Disappointed in the hotel"
Overall, the hotel was nice but certainly did not live up to the hype at all. Front lobby was very pretty. Room was small and décor left a lot to be desired. We have stayed at the Waldorf in Chicago and no doubt that the New York hotel is old but service, rooms are far lacking. The hotel itself is beautiful. I was surprised to see the rate on Hotels.com and booked the opportunity immediately. When I arrived i was greeted and quickly escorted to the check in line. I was upgraded and arrived in my room. The room was amazing, clean and comfortable. The in Hotel steak house on the other hand was a huge disappointment. The Bull […] and Bear? I sat at the bar and waited for the bartender to realize that there was a new customer. Although very friendly, he was a little slow on the uptake. Having to ask multiple times what I ordered for a drink, and when I ordered my petite fillet without the blu cheese, guess what came on it... I did not have time to wait for another so I ate the perfectly cooked beef with the lovely hint (I dislike blu cheese) of the cheese. I will fo course stay at this magnificent relic of a hotel again given the opportunity, I think they need to get to their roots, and remember what made them the #1 hotel a millenium ago. "Excellent stay for mom/daughter/granddaughter trip"
You read about the Waldorf in books, but I had always figured it was out of our price range. Booking thru an online site we found a reasonable price. I was still concerned after reading reviews, that maybe it was a mistake. People were saying that it was becoming run down, its best days were past, etc. But, the pros outnumbered the cons so we kept the […] reservation & crossed our fingers. We were not disappointed! It was beautiful! Grand, elegant & altogether lovely. My mom & I were impressed and my daughter was mesmerized. Be polite at check in, explain your concerns, and you'll probably get an upgrade. We had reserved a dbl luxury room (two dbl beds). Upon check in I mentioned that it was our 1st trip & we really hoping for a high floor (for the city views) & a renovated room. We got a complimentary upgrade to a king suite. It was amazing!! Everything I'd read told travelers to be prepared for the tiny rooms, so we were. But we walked into a 2 room, 2 bathrm, 2 walk-in closet, CORNER suite! It was huge, by anyone's standards. No, it wasn't newly decorated but it didn't matter. Very classy! Even though we were on the 21st floor, our view was marred by scaffolding right under our windows, so asking for a high floor doesn't necessarily get you a fantastic view. Still, it was fine. The beds - even the pull out couch - were so comfortable. Room temp was easy to moderate. Staff was superb. Location was excellent. (Note: be prepared to eat elsewhere. Although delicious, VERY $$$). The Hotel itself was great. I had a problem when checking In. They could not locate my gold card. The person that checked me in was not very accomodating and rude. Make sure you ask not to be placed in the smoking Floor. They gave us a room in the 17th floor and the smell of smoke was unbearable. Make sure you ask for a non smoking room as they have an entire floor just for smokers. Hotel really needs maintenance my room tub was pealing ugh,rugs smelly furniture not closing well or hard to open or close,hall reminded me of the hotel in the movie The Shining. "extreme disappointment"
Noisy, cramped, dirty, expensive. Stayed in another hotel for the first 3 nights, and never should have switched to the waldorf astoria. Such a huge waste of money. I can't believe how loud this hotel was. Nothing in the room worked, and the walls seemed about to come crashing down.Ulasan otentik tamu Hotels.com

"horrible condition"
I was very disappointed in the stay here. The hotel is completely run down and the prices for what they offer you are absurd. We had to switch rooms 3 times!! We wanted a Park Avenue view and we got that, but there was no hot water in our room. When we called the complain, they told us to wait 20 minutes for the plumber and it was 11PM. It is not my […] home, I shouldn't have to sit with no hot water waiting for the plumber. Then after 10 minutes they switched us to a different room. The room was smaller with scaffolding cover our window. We complained about that then finally we got switched at around 11:45PM. It was a horrible experience for a hotel with such a reputation, well they did not uphold that at all. "A great reputation that was good but not great."
I thought the rate from hotel.com was decent. However, both my daughter and I have feather allergies. We called well in advanced to be sure the room was feather free. In addition, I am a Hilton Honors guest and my profile states that I require a feather free room. We drove 4 hours to NYC, and had to wait 1/2 hour after checking in because our "room […] was not feather free ready." Disappointing. We were tired and had to get ready for a Metropolitan Opera performance and dinner before--so we were rushed. Also, I could not believe that it cost for an 8 oz. bottle of water was more than what I have paid for T-shirts--outrageous. Beds were EXTRA, EXTRA comfortable. "Best place to stay in NYC!!"
I loved my stay! The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The hotels history had me in awe! I loved just walking around looking at the pictures on the walls, and the lobby was nothing short of magnificent! Everyone must stay here at least once!!!!Ulasan otentik tamu Hotels.com

"Try Someplace Else"
Booked a room with a queen size bed for my birthday. First night out in the city without the kids. Arrived at the hotel and they only had a room with two double beds. I asked for a room with one larger bed, but they said that they had none. Find it hard to believe because they have 1416 rooms. So much for our romantic getaway. Called customer support […] and they could not help. They recommended talking to the hotel directly. The Waldorf recommended a free upgrade for my next stay. There will not be a next stay. "Nice old hotel with great reception, but with some"
I have some questions about service in that nice hotel with superb location... Room and bathroom were clean, but bathroom was outdated, with no water pressure, and quite difficult water temp adjustment... In room was cold, especially after window was open by service staff so we were freezing one night... But because of location and very nice reception […] I would recommend that hotel anyway... I did not like getting the bill for minibar, which we did not use, but it was solved quite easy, I hope... But one thing still bother me - I had 2 bookings in that hotel one from April18 to April 22 for room type Deluxe queensize-bed and another one for 1 night April 17 for room type Superior King which costs at least double price of Deluxe, but we ve got Deluxe for 5 nights without mention it and no reduction in price...
