"Such a pleasant stay"
We stayed at the Hyatt Fairfax for three days to visit Washington DC. The hotel is located about 20 minutes from DC. A bit confusing to find of the freeway but we got the hang of it after the first day. The hotel is clean and the room was spacious. Our room had a king and a double bed. My daughter loves to swim, however we found the pool was not open […] in the morning. The breakfast in the Nova Grill was great and we had excellent service. "Not as expected"
We appreciated the fact that the Hyatt is a highly rated hotel for the price that was available, but the reason for the price is very apparent. The fact that all "amenities" are extra explains everything. The lack of in-room refrigerators and wifi is highly disappointing in this day and age, and to charge "fees" is outrageous in my opinion. The fact […] that these exorbitant fees exist could have been eased a bit had the rooms been properly built. No sound proofing exists. There was a cheerleading something going on the weekend we were there. Conveniently, these parties were placed on every floor and were constantly running and yelling up and down the hallways until after 10 o'clock. A call to front desk didn't appear to help. After 10, we got to listen to the people in the adjacent room talk until well after midnight. This wasn't something that required a call to the front desk as they should be allowed to talk in their own room. We should, however, be allowed to not hear them if the rooms were properly maintained for comfort. This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel and the second time it did not meet our expectations. Upon checkout, we were not asked how our stay was and for a hotel that appears to pride itself on service, this is a little disconcerting as they either don't care after they have gotten the money or expect certain feedback. We have a couple compaints about our stay: 1. The pool was only open 5-10pm, we went down to swim at 9:30 and were told we couldn't swim. Then no swmming the next morning. We inquired why? and were told Virginia Law says no swimming w/o a lifeguard on duty. I have never heard of such thing, and I stay at hotels ALL the time, so we checked that out and […] it was falsefor hotels pools in Virginia. 2. $9.95 for in room internet at a Hyatt, come on!! There are many other hotels that offer much more than we got at this Hyatt. There's alot of competition out there and you won't be ble to compete with this lack of amentities even if you have the Hyatt name. We probably would not choose to stay at a Hyatt again. "Great lobby but it goes down hill from there"
I was impressed when I walked into the lobby but from there it goes down hill from there. Staff wasn't friendly or helpful... Food was ok... Room was huge but outdated and not as clean as I would like... Pool was cloudy and the lifeguard was falling asleep. Great location! Hotel seems nice. However, the entrance and exit were hard to find. Room was spacious enough, but I noticed stains on sofa and carpet. People worked at the breakfast cafe seemed not caring about younger guest. The front desk people were very nice and friendly, but were slow. "We'll stay at the Mariott next time."
Watch out for the elevator area and the elevators since people coming from the pool drip all over the floor and no one from the staff wipes it up. There are no fridges in the rooms unless you get a suite. Also, the breakfast isn't complimentary. You also have to pay for wireless if you have an ipad or anything equivalent. There is no airport shuttle. […] Don't plan on getting any sleep if you stay during the weekend...because you can hear anyone coming down the hallway and the slaming of the doors. "Impressive facility,Disappointing human resources"
It was very nice. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was a bit noisy because it was next to elevator motors. Also, the restaurant was closed the evening I wanted to get something to eat. We were told that we could order at the bar, but it was very difficult to get them to wait on us. Also, my grand-daughter didn't get to go swimming because the pool […] closed at 6:oo PM. "all night sexcapade not addressed"
If you travel as often I do you will eventually encounter noisy neighbors in the room next to you. Unfortunately, for those of us who need to respite, whenever we stay in a hotel with paper thin walls, and the couple in the room next door goes on a two night sexcapade until 4 a.m., your purpose for going to that hotel is futile, and your money spent […] is wasted. The desk manager after personally hearing the ruckus, offered me a cup of coffee and said, "we are sorry for your convenience." Certainly, there was more that could have been done, other than for my wife and I change to another room, if he cared.
