The hotel is beautiful with a great bar and friendly staff but my room was HORRIBLE. it only had a full sized bed, the room was smaller than my office space and the heater did not work. "Walk to your favorite spots"
The room was a bit small but the comfortable bed made up for it. Located next to Boston Common and the T green line, this place was perfect for our quick stay. There are several restaurants in the area, some a bit pricey but there is something for everyone. The staff was helpful and with express checkout we were on our way. "Not for big people"
I requested a 2 bedroom room and I was given a one bedroom room into which a second queen sized bed was squeezed. The position of the beds made it impossible to open the dresser except for the top drawer which could be opened by sitting on or lying on the bed. A long table that might have been a desk and a single chair just made the room more crowded. […] All time spent in the room found us sitting or sleeping on the beds. At first, I couldn't find the closet, but my son found it in the corner near the window. I did like the soap. I checked some other rooms on the floor and each contained a single, queen-sized bed. The hotel had charged my card for the full 4 night stay and there were many graduations (like ours) happening so I couldn't risk changing hotels. I don't believe I'll stay there again although we had stayed there before. Our accommodations on our first visit were very satisfactory. Our room number was 519. My son's first comment was "I don't think this was intended as a guest room. It must have been used for storage." I took photos showing the tight passage between the beds and furniture. "Great place except for the rude staff"
The hotel has a great location, a block away from Boston Common. The lobby is beautiful, and the rooms, while small, are also very nice. The bedroom and shower were clean and worked great. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear other guest. Not the whole staff was rude, only every front desk attendant we spoke to. There is no reason to belittle or […] talk down to guest, there is also no reason to roll your eyes and be difficult. Should you pay for both hotel rooms and put one in your sisters name, you are unable to received both keys, even though you have both reservation numbers with you, and don't ask for an explanation, all you will get is a ton of eye rolling and snarly comments. "Quick trip to Boston"
Absolutely lovely hotel....truly beautiful in the structure and "old world" charm. This isn't a fancy room, its a beautiful room. The room was comfortable, but smaller than typical hotel rooms. When booking on the internet, a person should not be able to book a double bed if there are two people. There is absolutely no place to put luggage. As someone said, the rooms are small and wifi internet is free only in the lobby, when internet is on, which only happened in the first morning. Computer system crashed when I got there and created a horrible customer service nightmare! Hotel management refused to accommodate customers for the extreme inconvenience. The room I stayed was a petti double and hardly found any space to move around. The bathroom was too small, the shower room was about 3ft x 3ft! My wife and I just got off a cruise ship and decided to stay in Boston for a few days sightseeing, since we never visited Boston in the past. The Park Plaza was located very close to public transportation so getting around was very easy. The biggest complaint was that the rooms were not very quiet. "Comfortable stay"
Hotel was nice, lots of seating in the lobby area. Room was clean and comfortable. Only the house keeping staff tower lounge staff said good morning. When other pass, they don't say much of anything. Good evening hors d'oeuvres and a continental breakfast in the tower lounge - if you are a member or get an upgrade. Can't accommodate a lot of persons […] - not restaurant size. Bathroom and shower were clean but it needed a refresh of painting. Basic room service menu. Surrounding area is great - lots of restaurants and shopping. Walks around the Commons are always great this time of year. Check in and check out time did not take long, even though the hotel was getting busy. Lobby lounge open late and good drinks. Great price for a nice room. One of my beds made a weird noise when I moved. One night we had fire alarms, but i only heard one beep and then 60 seconds later there was an announcement that we could go back to bed...I don't know if it was a false alarm, but the system was a little weird. Bed was comfy, TV works, bathroom was clean, staff was really […] nice. You have to pay for WiFi which is a little weird. Location was great, near a T stop and the Back Bay Area. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and were very pleased with our room and the view and also it was so convenient. We asked if there was an upgrade (which we knew were available but were told they were all full. I am not so sure but I know hotels do this. A crumbling, antiquated old hotel charging premium rates for slow to non-existent service (the advertised free Wi-Fi is applies only to the Lobby). Also, the front desk staff were rude to the point of being confrontational at checkout. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in 20 years!
