Mercure Amsterdam Airport - Benteng Amsterdam, Belanda

Enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were clean and well maintained, staff was very helpful and friendly. The only down side is that it's quite a distance to downtown Amsterdam. You can reach it by bus, taxi or car but by bus it will take you about an hour (with transfers). Recently refurbished making it it clean and comfortable. Very convenient for Schipol airport but a bit too far from the city centre to be a good location for a weekend break. Good value for money

grime in bathroom wasn't cleaned on request. Many chipped tiles in bathroom. fairly cramped room. Check-in receptionist barely smiled and was less than welcoming although others seemed ok.

We stayed one night just before taking off from Schiphol airport. The location was very close to the airport and shuttle service was available every 30 minutes. The restuarant was pleasant for dinner. One of the staff at the front desk, an older guy, was not most helpful but he tried his best. The location and cleanliness of the hotel was good. We cannot say the same about the staff. The "service" by the staff was all about business. They did not take time to answer our questions. The worst experience was when we went to dinner in the bar area. We were the only two there at the time. We each ordered a different entree. One of us was served […] and the other was not so we thought that it was coming. After a few minutes we called our waiter over and he admitted he had made a mistake! He wondered if we still wanted the second dinner. By that time it was too late. We shared the one meal. Then there was no one around to take our money. We waited and then left our table. The hotel was easy to get to via its own shuttle. reception staff excellent in service and friendliness and spoke excellent English. The only complaint was the restaurant breakfast: there was no choice except to have the breakfast buffet. While nice and more than adequate, it cost 43 Euros for two of us, over $60 at the current exchange rate. Not having […] a choice, and not being told ahead of time the exorbitant cost for breakfast certainly put a damper on our stay at the Mercure. So, while the room was clean and comfortable, if small, and the staff great, the breakfast bill was huge and somewhat devious. The breakfast experience would have been a whole lot better had the hotel (a) had any kind of commuication HOW MUCH the buffet cost, and, (b) offered an alternative, such as a la carte breakfast menu. 1) be careful that if you prepaid for your room they don't charge you for it again when you have to give them a CC to put down to charge for room service, etc. 2) food is cheaper in the city then here. 3) chief doesn't cook hamburger to your request. 4) front desk is slow & gives you wrong information. 5) taxi not expensive and front desk has several […] numbers to call for one for you. 6)no wash cloth but have everything else expect lotion. 7) gas station across form hotel that sells snacks, drinks, mag but no personal items. So you don't have to touch the snacks or drinks in the mini-bar. 8) a lot of channels to watch, also radio, video games & movies. if you fall asleep with the tv on beware that it will be sex phone lines on some of the channels. 9) keep you room key cover with you so if you take a taxi they will know which hotel to take you too. We were arriving late in the evening after a long day of travel so I booked this hotel to give us a place to crash for our first night in Amsterdam. The hotel was very adequate and provided the free airport shutle we wanted. We were able to get quickly into the hotel and had a good restful night. This is a really comfortable, good value hotel, close to the airport and only a 20 min bus ride to Leidseplein. There is an efficient, courteous, free shuttle service from the airport, and the surroundings are quite pleasant - with a lake and parkland opposite which make for very good morning or evening runs. Right round the lake takes about an hour […] at 5.5min/km. I suppose the distance from the city centre is slightly limiting - you can't just pop back to the hotel during the day if you need something, but being out in the countryside is a bonus. This hotel is very close to the schipol airport. complimentary shuttle to and fro hotel was convinient and timely. Staff spoke good English and were always willing to help with directions. Hotel was clean and more modern than pictures displayed.

The Hotel itself is what you might expect for an "on airport" type place. The location is neither good nor bad, but is convenient for Schipol. Mecure Amsterdam Airport hotel is nicely situated close to the airport, the room is nice and clean, and the staff was also nice and friendly. Nice moderate hotel that is affordable and somewhat close to the airport. Definately NOT as convenient as the Sheraton and the shuttle was MIA sometimes of the day. Staff were great, food was actually pretty good for an airport hotel. Room nice, bed comfortable. Overall good value for money.

The Front desk gentlement was very nice and helpful. Room was clean and good. Apple and pear at the front desk were good.

The description of the hotel from the website was pretty good. The hotel shuttle was prompt and less than ten minutes from the airport. The bus stop is actually about a city block away from the hotel entrance. There's convenience store and a cafe next door so you don't have to rely on the minibar and hotel restaurant. Also the breakfast buffet was excellent […] (European-style). Unfortunately, there's not much else around so you'll have to go into the city center for eating and entertainment. The 197 bus takes about 15 minutes and drops at Leidseplein. From there you can take the the tram or walk to the city center. As far as the hotel goes, it's seems to be designed for the business traveler. The room is vary basic with LCD TV, a desk, and the bed. The bathroom had a full tub and was quite clean. Situated on the banks of a lovely lake away from the hustle and bustle this hotel is provides a very relaxing atmosphere. It is close to a bus stop that will get you to town. Buffet breakfast really outstanding.

The room was perfectly fine, though it had no coffee/tea maker. But there was a real issue with temperature regulation. Basically, the room stayed cold, even after engaging the heat, since the radiator is located behind the thick blackout curtains. I had to wait 45 minutes on the shuttle from the airport! Most frustrating was that each time I, or anyone […] else, rang the hotel on the courtesy phone to find out when a shuttle might be expected, the phone simply disconnected. I had the impression someone on the other end was just turning it off. Finally, at 5 min. before it arrived, the hotel answered and said it would be there in 5 min. Not pleasant. Til prisen er hotellet udmærket, men 4 stjerner, som de skriver selv - er det ikke i min optik - måske 3. Restauranten serverede udmærkede spareribs og burger med fadøl til rimelige priser. Morgenmad spiste vi ikke (kunne ikke nå det inden vort fly). Hotelli oli siisti ja täytti kaikin puolin toiveemme. Ainoastaan aamupalan hinta oli miinusta. Myös auton parkkeeraus hotellin pihassa maksoi todella paljon yhdeltä yöltä. Autolla oli kuitenkin erittäin helppo löytää paikalle. Hotellista on ilmainen kuljetus lentokentälle ja Amsterdamin keskustaan lähtee bussi hotellin takaa maksaen vähän. prepaid skall vara prepaid, inte att man måste betala skatter vid utcheckning. Förklaringen att skatter är olika om man verklingen sov där eller inte är naturligen en dum holländsk förklaring. Man får utgå att jag sov på ett hotellet. Utgå från den dyraste skatten så behöver man inte checka ut om man inte har använt minibar eller frukost. Holland med […] sina reglar igen. We had a stop over in Amsterdam for 8 hours during the night so decided to get a hotel. Mercure has a hotel directly at the airport but that was already booked. This one is ca. 5km away from the airport but the shuttle runs every 30 min. Check in was smooth but the way to our room was a bit strange. we had to walk down a long hallway with rooms on the […] left and right, Thankfully we were not staying in any of those because i cannot imagine the noise level with all hotel guests having to pass by them. ours was on the second floor with a tiny elevator going up. The room itself was ok, beds comfortable enough but the atmosphere of the hotel still feels very much like a motel and for the price that we paid i would have expected a little bit more. room is tiny and had twin beds. bathroom ok with good amentities.
