"Decent minus the check in experience"
We arrived at 3pm for our stay (check-in time) with our hungry and sleepy 6 month old and had to wait over an hour for our room. The front desk staff expressed no urgency and only after checking with the desk more than 4 times did they admit the poor quality of service. They tried to make amends with free breakfast but we were beyond frustrated. They […] have contracts with major airlines and throughout our stay we saw airline staff checking out hours past the check out time of noon which I believe creates this frequent problem. Be ware. A beautiful hotel. All hotel personnel were very helpful. The food and service was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
"Costly and Dated"
For what they charge hotel needs some serious work. Very outdated rooms, mold in the bathroom, remote controls that don't work, Musty/Damp odor in room. Check in guide in room says 12 but we get a call saying you need to leave because checkout is at 11. Maybe this hotel was great -- in 1874 -- and it looks like they haven't changed one thing since […] then. Save your money and stay at Hampton Inn or Econo Lodge -- at least your wallet won't suffer. "What a wonderful Hotel and staff ...."
I called Hotels.com before going to check-in, as I was early ... and received a pleasant service rep who called the Garden City to have them prepare for my early arrival. Excellent.. The staff at The Garden City Hotel, were extremely pleasant, warm, helpful, and cheerful. Dull Colors in room. Rug looked worn out. I needed to use the iron but it looked ancient. Needs replacing. Expected more than just "basic" cable stations. Screen not as sharp as my home set. Bathroom beauitiful except I needed a handle in tub and there was none there. Restaurant prices were ridiculously high and meal portions were extremely small. Gutes Hotel, mit guter Ausstattung und guter Lage zum Airport , New York ist in 45 Minuten mit der Bahn zu erreichen. Leider gibt es kein Spätcheck out !!!
