We enjoyed the pool (nice and warm for the kids) and the room was clean and nice. It was strange, though, we had a 1 bedroom suite and there was no air conditioning/heating except a wall-mount unit in the bedroom (no a/c or heating in the other, internal room). Also, our room was right above the reception and the receptionist called up saying that our […] kids jumping around was too loud and disrupting the customers checking in. I can;t believe that the hotel was not built to allow for a little kid jumping, I can only imagine if it was someone trying to sleep below us. Maybe these issues only apply to our room (maybe it was not part of the original construction or first built as a storage room or something). Hotel was quite decent and acceptable for a little less then a hundred a night. King size bed was comfy and had feather pillows. Wifi reception was good. Offered free drinks for happy hour with cheesecake. Water pressure was a little lacking, but everything else was great.

Most of the staff was very friendly. There was one lady who was very rude and didn't realize that I could hear her. She complained about me when I asked for more towels. Our room had not been cleaned and therefore we had no clean towels to take showers with, I asked for more and she was very very rude to me. The pool was nice and warm which is a huge […] plus for me. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the Country Inn Suites in Ames was. The bed was comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was hot and delicious. I would definitely stay here again and will look for Country Inn Suites in the future.

We had a very positive impression of this hotel from the moment we walked into the lobby. It smelled wonderful and was nicely decorated for Christmas with cookies and beverages readily available. Inside and out, the hotel was immaculate and in good repair. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed the pool area the most […] which was always very clean and stocked with plenty of towels. The breakfast was very good with a large selection of hot and cold items, including a great fresh fruit salad. The room itself was your usual hotel room with comfy beds and mini fridge and microwave. We requested a handicap acessible room because I am in an electric scooter type of wheelchair. We have stayed at many hotels/motels in the past, and believe me, this room was exceptionally well designed for me to operate my wheelchair in compared to most handicap rooms we've stayed in before, especially getting in and out of the bathroom area. My grandkids […] were staying with us, so we asked for the suite to accomodate more people. It was more than ample space, even with the 5 of us. We found the hotel clean, convenient and quite comfortable! The rooms were larger than we expected and the option of complimentary breakfast was very nice. Also....enjoyed the chairs out front for an evening glass of wine on a perfect fall day!

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was decent. There was no TV reception or internet the night I was there and the curtains did not block out the sunlight in the morning.

The staff at Comfort Inn was friendly upon check in. The lobby and grounds of the hotel looked well maintained. Once we got into our room and utilized the pool, everything changed. We were in a King suite, and it didn't meet my expectations. A fire sprinkler was hanging out of the wall, the furniture was mildly stained, the ventilation was not good […] and the room wasn't cleaned completely from the last use. For being a King suite, the decor was bland - lots of blank white walls. Visually, the room quality didn't reflect the price - very dated look. We utilized the pool on this visit with mixed feelings about it. The pool temp was nice, but the whirlpool had cold water jetting out and was not relaxing. There were only a few of us using the pool, but there were zero towels on the shelf. The ventilation in the pool area was not good as well. I feel that the air temp in the pool area was hotter than the whirlpool. The food for breakfast was of good quality. There was cold air blasting out of vents making the hot breakfast quickly a cold breakfast. The breakfast area was by no means hot either. We couldn't find a table where there wasn't cold air blasting on us. Overall, for the money, I don't feel that I got what I paid for. There are so many things good to say about our stay there. We were there 2 nights. The coffee, cookies and friendly reception staff is the first plus. The pool area was wonderful and so was our room. I cant say enough about the great breakfast and the woman attending it was super nice. We enjoyed happy hour 1 evening too and what another nice perk for […] travelers. The hotel was fine, but the hot tub was less than desirable. It smelled like dirty water and when we asked the front desk to check the chlorine level, they said they had tested it that morning and it was fine. This was 7pm at night and obviously, there was an issue.

We stayed at the Country Inn Suites last weekend. The location was great - just a few minutes from the Hilton Coliseum and close to lots of restaurants. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The only two little things were the heater in the room seemed to either go on robo-power or we had to turn it off. The "low" didn't work, but we never […] said anything about it either. The plumbing in our room was having issues, but the staff was very prompt in addressing our concerns. This is a nice and clean hotel. The staff is quick and courteous and condition is good. Our family stays here annually and it's a great place if you have children because the pool is large and fun. There's a nice and large hot tub in one corner of the pool area. The free breakfast, however, is of poor quality, although there are many food choices.

Excellent breakfast. Clean room. Good, friendly, helpful service. Not a lot of extras, but that was not what I was looking for. HS reunion and many classmates stayed here and all were pleased. Many had stayed here before including myself.

Even though this beautiful hotel is located near many colleges and businesses, it was delightfully quiet while close to freeways. The pool was warm and inviting. Breakfast was a feast. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Very affordable also. Try it out & you'll never stay at any other Ames, Iowa hotel.

We were in town for our daughter's bridal shower. It just happened to be the same weekend as the Iowa Games. We figured all the businesses would be swamped with people and perhaps the service would not be up to usual standards. Everywhere we went, the people were more than friendly and aimed to please. One thing we did notice that we were not sure if we liked was when we got to our room immediately after checking in, the door was propped open. We hesitated to enter our room. Not sure if someone else was in it. We noticed this later with other rooms as well. It is convenient when you just check in and are carrying a lot of luggage and bags to just walk right into your room. But it is something we were just not comfortable with.
