"Fabulous hotel! Didn't want to leave"
This was a great five star hotel. Service was Perfect.
They will try to get as much money from you as they can, starting from front desk, trying to "upgrade" your room, prices are high, but best hotel out of five different hotels during our stay in different cities in China.
"Best hotel we've ever been in so far"
This is a great hotel! My wife and I stayed here for the first 7 nights of our honeymoon, and it is the best hotel ever we have stayed in so far (we have had much experience with this class of hotels while going to academic conferences in Asia and Europe). It was opened only one and a half year ago, and it really shows. Everything looks new, the lobby […] area is huge, and the building itself is the most outstanding of the buildings in this part of Guilin city. The room was spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. A few notes of the service you can expect: * Internet is free. * Everyone speaks English, most people speak it flawlessly. * There is always a whole crew of people at the hotel entrance who greet you when you go in or out of the hotel. * Every time you take a taxi (whether it's to or from the hotel), someone at the entrance will write down the taxi number on a card and give it to you, just in case. * When you go to the outside swimming pool, someone will immediately come over to you with a towel and a complimentary bottle of water. * Room service breakfast is served 24 hours (you have to call if you want it served outside of the interval 06:00 - 10:30, but it is offered according to the room-service breakfast card you fill out). * Shangri-la members (free membership) get complimentary fruit and newspaper sent to their room every day. The only minus is the the location, which could be better. The good restaurants are in the centre of Guilin, while the hotel is a little bit to the side. But it costs only 10 yuan for a taxi into the city, so it shouldn't be a big deal for most people. Also, I must note that we never tried the buffet breakfast wich was offered. "A great escape from noisy Guilin streets"
The Shang ri la was a great escape from the noisy streets that are everywhere in China. The hotel was only recently opened so all very new and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The concirge battled to speak english and we had a bit of a battle trying to organise our flights through them from Guilin to Hong Kong.

This Hotel was everything I could expect. I did have a Li River view, so I do not know what the other views were like. The hotel Ratings I gave it were just that--all 5 very satisfied. "Simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in!"
The Shangri La Guilin was simply outstanding. Every single member of the staff was so friendly and offered a top-class service. By day 2, many of them new our names and greeted us when we passed them. The rooms were bright, clean and designed beautifully. Maggie in guest services was the highlight of our stay.
