Stayed for 2 nights, a short stay, its very well located in the center, close to everything that you might need. taxis pass by all the time, also a subway station right outside. very kind reception and cleaning lady. Plus a very very nice price. Definitely recommend!!! :-)

We booked last minute through hotels.com, got a great price. The parking is secured. Our view from 213 was very nice facing the park.We did hear cars honking, and police sirens off and on, didn't bother us in the least, no different than staying in any other big city. Besides the small miscommunication between the hotel and hotels.com it was a very good stay. The hotel was in a good area, the service was great, and it was very clean. It's not a fancy hotel so don't expect too much; it's a great deal for visiting the city and we didn't spend too much time indoors. The A/C is a plus for the hot days.

This is the 2nd time I stayed at Portobelo and have been impressed both times. The rooms are always clean. The rooms are quiet (I stayed in a room facing the street and had no issues with noise). The staff is very helpful (although not all speak any English). The surrounding location has a lot to choose from in terms of food (there's also a 7-eleven […] across the street). The subway train has a station right outside the door. The restaurant was not great. Didn't really care for the breakfast buffet, but really other than that, this is a GREAT hotel! Nothing to say - its perfect. I was at room 412, I didn't hear any noise though the hotel is located in a very busy area. The rooms are all new US standard. Wifi is good, service is great and the location Is the best! For this price, take it!!!!

I have stayed at the Portobelo many many times. I own a hotel in Mazatlan so I know what to look for. This place is very clean.Beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Great staff and housekeeping. Great location. The best part about the Portobelo is the price. You cant beat it.

The location if this hotel is ideal. You can walk down Ave. Juarez to the right to downtown (centro) past stores. If you walk left lots of parks and restaurants. Tortas next to 7 eleven are good. safe to walk alone or at night! Hotel bar food and breakfast are good too.

Excellent value in my favorite neighborhood of Guadalajara. In my opinion, there is no other hotel that offers this level of accommodation at this price. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be near the center of the city. I go to Guadalajara every week (I live in Ajijic) and have tried dozens of hotels.

They need more lighting in the rooms or higher wattage in both the bathroom and bedroom. Its kinda dark most of the time, other than that the rooms were great, centrally located and in walking distance to anything downtown. The hotel scent maybe a little strong. I found the Location, staff, FREE WiFi, Accessibility to Mass Transit Excellent! I have stayed at hotels in GDL's Centro Historico and found this hotel comparable. This is a great hotel for the price. The service was great, the location wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern, and clean. One day they did not leave towels in our room called the front desk at 6:00 a.m. and they brought them up within five minutes. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed for a week the room looked clean and well maintained almost like new. I felt safe and there is free underground parking. One of the light bulbs burned out and the issue was resolved quickly. Great hotel for the price. Brand new place and the staff has kept it looking very nice and comfortable. Tours pick you up from the front lobby and drop you off again,saving you time and money on taking a taxi to a pick up location. Everything was wonderful even the breakfast buffet that you pay 85 pesos for. Room was awesome, water pressure on shower was great. The only thing I didn't like is the receptionist gave access to my room to my mother without my concent while I wasn't there. I mean if only I have a card then I should be the only one that has access.

This hotel is worth the money. The room is very clean and very nice. But the food is horrible and the service is OK...the walls are thin though, which is a minus...however this hotel is worth the money because A. It's cheap, B. I inquired about the difference in cost and asked if they had one available for the 2 nights I would be there.
