Hotel zu den Burgen - Kamp-Bornhofen, Jerman

I have travelled extensively through 26 countries and have stayed in some interesting and unusual places but this has to be one of the worse hotels it has been my misfortune to visit. The room was small and at the back of the building, so it was constantly dark, gloomy, airless and stuffy. You could not open the window without it swinging halfway across […] the bed. It did not have a balcony despite the hotel description saying it would, my view was onto a wall covered in shrubbery about 10 feet away that stretched above the building. The TV did not have an aerial so did not work. The minibar/fridge did not even have a plug! The hot water tap for the sink did not work. And the pillows were so soft, we may as well have not bothered with them, despite asking for additional pillows and trying to use three of them to sleep on. It is located in a very small town where nothing seems to be open after 8pm. There was a restaurant at the hotel but it was permanently closed, as was the bar and we only saw the staff when we checked in and out. When we arrived on our first night at 9pm, after travelling for most of the day, we could not find anywhere to eat within walking distance and ended up driving along the road until we found a takeaway pizza place. Also, they do not take credit card even though we had been told that they did and we booked using a card; thus we had to find a cash payment on a Sunday morning when we checked out. I guess if you want somewhere extremely quiet to stay then this hotel may suit you and the breakfasts were good plus the morning staff we friendly and helpful. But i cannot seriously recommend this hotel as there were too many downside factors to compensate for any pluses! Baca selengkapnya
