We booked this B&B despite the negative reviews because it was the only one with vacancies for the weekend we wanted as Keswick is small and gets quite full in summer months. We knew what we were headed for so we were not surprised. The room was very small, but otherwise ok. The breakfast was bland, there was not vegetarian option as others have stated […] and we found it a bit limiting that it was only served between 08:00-08:30, especially since we wanted to be out early and hike. Very cold feeling coming in. The owner did provide a heater after having slept with all clothes on the first night, however it was only after further discussion with her this was supplied. The bath was full of hair from the previous tenant and the pipes were smelling so much that we had to keep the fan on all day/night. At breakfast only cereal and […] hot breakfast was served leaving little choice to people who did not like an English breakfast full of fat or was allergic to cereals. An option of fruit would have been welcomed. Furthermore the breakfast room was only open for half an hour and always freezing cold. The living room we were told would be open was never open. Therefore no access to the big TV or the toys we had been told we could use. During our 4 night stay only the beds were made by no other cleaning took place and we were left with the same towels for the entire stay. At our departure we had to knock on the door for 7min to the owners to hand over the keys and say thank you. She just took the keys and closed the door. Very confortable stay for my family (2 adults and 1 child). The room wasw spotless as was the dining room area. Breakfast was very nice and the proprietor always welcomed you with a smile and was always helpful. Location was great, only 5 minutes walk from lake (Derwent) and main town centre.
