A lovely hotel but a great shame that the staff could not speak English, they did however use Google translate.
This is limited to the Chinese market especially in terms of cuisine. The chef refused to make me an omelette despite having all the ingredients and facilities to do so.
I did persist and despite the staff laughing in my face and making me feel humiliated, I did eventually get an omelet made for me.
The hotel charged us more than the local taxi fare to take us to the train station....

We arrived pretty jaded after our overnight train journey from Bangkok. On entering the hotel reception, we immediately felt relaxed. Check in staff were excellent as were all of the staff at the hotel. The whole ambiance of the hotel was serene and calming. Furnishings throughout are traditional and in pristine condition. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a good choice of Lao and European dishes. There are lots of restaurants within a very short walk of the hotel. We would certainly recommend...

Our first time in Laos and Luang Prabang. The hotel is just 15 mins from the airport and for a small fee the staff will pick you up. The hotel is just out of the main town area but a 10-15 minute walk can get you to the night market or you can use one of the many push bikes. A regular shuttle takes and picks you up to the Post Office. The hotel staff are incredibly polite like alll Laoation people and can't do enough for you. The breakfast is really nice with a blend of local and western foods...

We had a wonderful time at Hillside Lodge. It is in stunning countryside (note there is a slightly bumpy 20-30 minute drive from Luang Prabang but we found this to be an added part of the adventure) with a great pool to cool down in either after a days activity or to relax around all day.
The team are amazing and weren’t super helpful in arranging transfers and activities. Khan was an amazing host and the food on site was great as were the fruit juices - kids (and adults) loved it all.

Welcomed to the hotel with juice, warm towel and an even warmer welcome. Check in was fast and efficient.
I loved the complementary water was in glass bottles and breakfast was cooked fresh to order instead of buffet style. The ingredients were good quality too.
The grounds were beautiful and very relaxing, I would stay here again.
One thing to note is that due to steps and gravel paths this may not be ideal for people with mobility problems.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Laos
Book for the cheapest times: For those seeking an affordable getaway, the best time to visit Laos is during May, June, and September, when hotel prices tend to be lower. To fully appreciate the country's rich history, culture, and stunning natural landmarks, a stay of at least 2 days is recommended. This allows visitors to experience the breathtaking landscapes, ancient temples, and vibrant local traditions, making it a budget-friendly option for travellers looking for great value for money.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals in Laos, begin by exploring the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Additionally, activating email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com could keep you informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Moreover, the Smart Shopping feature available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re the first to know if rooms become available or prices drop, making it easier to book a spontaneous getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a better deal on your stay in a hotel in Laos. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and potentially better value. When you make a booking through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price leans towards the higher end, we could suggest alternative dates that might offer more affordable options.
Consider your location: Staying in the heart of major cities in Laos undoubtedly provides convenience and easy access to local attractions; however, it is often accompanied by higher prices. In contrast, smaller towns and rural areas are more likely to be affordable, offering a variety of attractive options for those on a budget. For better rates, it may be worth considering accommodation outside the city centre, although this could necessitate extra travel to reach key sights. Alternatively, exploring nearby cities can reveal a wealth of experiences while still accommodating a more budget-friendly stay.
Best time to go to Laos
Laos has a varied climate due to its size, so the best time to visit depends on the region and your preferences for weather and crowds. January, July, and September are the peak travel months in Laos, attracting a higher number of tourists. During this peak period, the weather is sunny to mostly cloudy, accompanied by no to frequent rainfall. On the other hand, May, June, and October tend to be quieter times to visit, marked by light to moderate rainfall and mostly sunny to mostly cloudy conditions.
