"My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The owner, Fiona, was extremely nice and the breakfast was amazing. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and I loved the historical nature of the house. It is also in a good location, just far enough from the city. We would absolutely recommend the property and stay here again"

"Staff are great very friendly and helpful, our evening meal was delicious as always The Grand is one of our favourite hotels in York."

"Absolutely beautiful house and weathering pretty well considering age and National Trust status. Quirky and very comfortable but not contemporary so don’t expect gleaming and modern. That’s the absolute beauty of this place and we loved it. The staff were fabulous and service was outstanding. House and grounds superb. Special birthday treat and will recommend until the cows come home! Well situated for York and a wonderful way to embrace history with this wonderful house. Fabulous!"

"Highly recommend No.1 Guesthouse to anyone visiting York. The hotel is just outside the old city walls, but only a short walk to York Minster. The hotel is wonderfully designed and updated. The lounge and bar are comfortable and well appointed. Our room was fantastic, with a comfortable bed and tons of natural light. The staff at No.1 were all pleasant and helpful. "

"Deans Court is located in the centre of York itself and is handy to everything such as a wide choice of dining and entertainment as well as sightseeing. Rooms are a quirky shape as often found with older buildings but very clean and comfortable. Parking is valet which is great as streets in York can be confusing and walking is often quicker. Breakfast which was delicious was a mixture of continental buffet style items with cooked items available to order."
