We like to visit San Fransisco a few times each year and this was our first time at RUI. We got lucky and had a quick, early check in. Staff was efficient.
Our room was decent, clean, but not spotless. They missed some spots on the tile floor.
It had a refrigerator and small coffee maker. The bathroom and vanity were separate making it easier for two people to get ready.
The bed was uncomfortably hard. It is rare that I find hotel beds uncomfortable. I suspect it is because it is newer which is a positive, but both of us had trouble sleeping.
The breakfast buffet, which everyone raves about, was above and beyond. They also have 3 areas with the same items which keeps things moving. However, there is a line to get seated (restaurant style). We were there during the week and I went at 8 just to get coffee, but left because the line was so long. Typically, if I get up before my husband, I have coffee and read and then bring coffee to the room for both of us before we eat. They do not allow items brought back to the room anyway.
We went together at 9 and the line to get in was still long. This really is not a complaint, they handle it as efficiently as they can, there are just a lot of people. It just surprised me especially since it was mid-week.
Overall, nice hotel in a good location.
