Pretty good
Staff was nice and helpful. Room was very small but relatively well appointed. One side spot in the floor which felt a bit icky. Bed was ok but quite soft which I didn’t love. The room and bedding were clean and the tv was great (worked and had channels!)

Went downhill fast
I stayed here pre-Covid- maybe 2019ish- after an extensive remodel. It was great. It was closed as a hotel for 2-3 years (possibly being used as short term housing judging by the current condition of the rooms ?). Stayed here again last weekend and it was terrible. It’s a rough part of the city, smack dab in the TL- that doesn’t bother me as long as the hotel room is a safe, clean refuge. It’s not. The dirty vinyl plank floor was broken in two high traffic places. Someone’s eyelash extension was in the sink, and the only shelf in the ridiculously small shower was broken off and dangling on the wall. Our room had no window, felt like a closet and smelled weird- possibly like a cleaner mixed with burning meth. The bed made noise, is not built for tall people (had a footboard railing) and the TV remote didn’t work. The positive: the towels were fluffy and soft.

Worst hotel I stayed at. Nothing like the pics posted on hotels.com. The room had many broken things, windows did not lock and there was no damn parking had to park a few blocks away. Also, there was a hot spot there with a lot of homeless. Will never stay there again.

Tiny rooms, not clean and not in a nice area
The rooms are tiny, especially the rooms that have no windows. Our initial room was not clean, so we had to request to change the rooms twice. The hotel is much smaller than the photos make it look. It is also not in a good area. Fortunately, we only stayed one night.

Extremely noisy. Such a loud street. I mean, it’s the tenderloin so to be expected. Just don’t know just HOW loud. The room was very small, but really clean. Hotel service was great, very polite and informative front desk. Very clean hotel. Overall its cheap so if you are a sound sleeper you wouldn’t have a problem here.

It was a better place than the surrounding motel/inn options. 24 hour front desk. Ear plugs required. Conference in town raised rates of chain hotels too high. This was a good pick for price.

Good location, updated, considerable wear and tear
Hotel EPIK is an affordable 2-star hotel situated between Civic Center, the Tenderloin, and Polk Gulch. The staff were super friendly and attentive to my requests. Location was great! It was very easy for to get to SOMA, the Mission, and the Castro walking or on transit. The room was clean, with very basic toiletries. There was no closet or place to hang or store my clothes. The shower had a nice showerhead and plenty of hot water. While the decor is updated, my hotel room had considerable wear and tear. The heater remote stopped working, so I could not change the settings. The furniture and floors had considerable wear. In the bathroom, the lighted mirror in the bathroom was not completely attached and repaired with tape, but it worked, and the small shelf in the shower was loose and wobbly. Last thing, the mattress was super, super soft.

I like the hotel and plan to be back.
The hotel is so good, very clean and comfortable to stay in. Feel really enjoyable. Take out 1 star not because of the hotel but the other customer. Soundproof is not good plus the customer close to my room didn’t care for others. They was talking so loudly, kind of yelling to each other in their room, it was around evening I understand the noise, BUT they kept talking LOUDLY until 1:30am I couldn’t sleep. It affects me so badly I was so sleepy the day after. When the customer kept making noise, I was thinking why no one (no staff) came to remind them. I think that’s is one of things the hotel should take more serious. I like the hotel and plan to be back if Im in town.

I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort during my seven night stay. I worked productively at the desk provided in the room, and thoroughly enjoyed dining at "Brenda's French Soul Food" on the next block and walking to Trader Joe's on Hyde and California. It's a busy, noisey city corner, so if you're "precious" or a light sleeper find somewhere else. Happy trails.

Where do I begin…
Oh boy! The rooms are small so if it’s just a couple or single sharing should ok. Beds are giving IKEA vibes, but they did the job. Our room was facing the street so as long as you don’t mind the un housed arguing and yelling at night you should sleep fine. Our room we had trouble with the AC, and asked for her help but that never came. So we figured it out. The lights don’t dim although you have dimmer. Our curtains did not close so we we were told, “Will make a note of it”. Possibly the best of this hotel was the coffee in the morning. Also was charged twice for the “security deposit”. Hard pass for us.

Great staff .. always pleasant and courteous however, Room conditions have suffered a bit. The Epik and Nob Hill hotels are safe , clean and staff always pleasant- no complaints
