Summary:
A quintessential piece of Burra history, Miss Mabel Cottage is named after Mabel Baker whose family built the cottage in 1853. Set on one and a half acres the cottage has been fully renovated in country style decor with 3 bedrooms and 2 living areas.
The Space:
The bedding consists of 2 queen beds and 2 singles. There is a slow combustion wood stove and reverse cycle air-conditioning to ensure year round comfort.
The separate formal lounge is the perfect place to sit and read or play one of the complimentary board games. In the bathroom an old claw footbath has been beautifully restored and takes pride of place; a lovely treat to soak and unwind. There is WIFI and Netflix to enjoy. Outside there are large gardens to relax in and a pergola ideal for a morning coffee and reading the paper looking gazing at the expansive views, stonewalls and cottages of Burra. Cook your BBQ of an evening (we suggest a fat, juicy steak from the Burra Butchers).
Our historical cottage is unfortunately not set up for children, so we are unable to accommodate them.
Guest Access:
Access is at the back of the house.
The Neighborhood:
Burra has a good selection of restaurants and cafes along with several pubs. The Burra Passport Key available from the Information Center allows you self-guided access to all the heritage buildings and sites around town interpreting life in the copper mining town of the 1850's. You will need more than one day here to do the town justice.
Interaction with Guests:
There is no on-site reception but we are a message and a phone call away. We will provide access details on the morning of check in.
