Mercure Bangkok Makkasan

Needs better air filtration for cleaner air. Staff is good mostly. Chairs are suboptimal. Overall nice place.

I enjoyed the stay at Mercure Bangkok Makkasan. I stayed for 6 nights and gym every morning. The gym was fine except for some mosquitoes. Room was good, clean and cosy. Mercure was out of the way, but the hotel tuk tuk was regularly and serves its purpose. Not a problem to get to the station, a 2 minutes ride from the hotel to Petchaburi station. I shop at MKB and Pratunum Fashion Mall. The T shirts for gents were nice and I like the sport wear like Adidas, Nike and UA. However, I found out later that I could get cheaper at the night bazaar around Platunum. So for those who wants to make your money worth buy only at night market. Klong Toei Wet market is interesting. It is huge and you can find many different vegetables, pork, sea food, fruits, dry stuff. Get prepared as the path is wet. For street food, you should visit Ruam Sab Market, it is huge and covered. Yaowarat is one of my favourites for lunch and dinner, but Nana Market is a disappointment. If you love live prawn, go to Neon Market and scoop your live prawns and BBQ them. Other than that the seafood at the many stalls may not be fresh and good. Not cheap though. I gym, eat, shop and walk. I like the connectivity of the trains.

the hotel room itself is ok.but no nearby shop or 7-11 shop.n yet they charge premium price for their food n beverages.

The hotel is beautiful and modern. The staff are very friendly and kind and very keen for you to rate them well on trip advisor. My only complaint is the lack of soundproofing which was made more apparent as I had very noisy neighbours. Without the noisy guests (which is in no way the fault of the hotel) I would rate this hotel highly.
