Check Inn HK - Hostel

Hostels have their own vibe, this one, or at least the 10-12 m2 room I stayed with 5 others is not too bad, but lacks the value for money compared to e.g. Yes Inn I stayed a while ago nearby, being one third the rate and at least double the standard with card operated lockers, more spacious rooms and more friendly staff and guests around. I'd do my best to book ahead not to miss Yes Inn or similar and stay away from Check Inn.

Overall, I had an amazing experience with the hostel they were kind and friendly the common room looks really great but i didn’t have much time to mingle as i have travelled with my family and we were always on the go. The location was amazing near all kinds of transportation so it was really convenient. Just remember to bring your own towels 😁

It was hard to find a good hostel in HK like in other parts of Asia. This one wasn’t so great, wouldn’t do it again if we went back to HK. The dorm room smelled really muggy and gross and the mattresses were hard. Small rooms but that’s expected in HK. Bathrooms were ok but the hair dryer that you have to request from the front desk barely works which is a problem if you’re a girl washing your hair at night. Took forever to dry my thin hair. We had HORRIBLE dorm mates that didn’t let us sleep for 3 nights. We asked the front desk on the second night if we could move to another room to get some sleep and they wouldn’t let us even though there were empty beds that night in other rooms. The dorm room and bathroom are also very cold. We went in December and the last thing you want after a long day in the cold is to come home to a cold room/bathroom. Showers are warm but the sinks only have freezing water which is rough when you wash your face in the morning. Location is great.

Loved staying in this hostel so much I ended up extending my stay by 2 weeks. I met lots of interesting people, the common area is comfortable and spacious and well appointed. The kitchen is pretty basic but there's a fridge and a microwave and boiling water. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and everything works pretty well. Only real issue is there's a few leaks in the ceiling of the bathroom in my dorm room, but it's not a huge problem and there's plenty of other bathrooms in the place that are fine. The location is excellent, 5 minute walk to Wan Chai MTR. Definitely recommend staying here, especially if you're travelling by yourself and want to be able to make new friends easily.
