The experience began with the hotel’s request that we pay only in cash. Tax avoidance, I assume.
The room was filthy by any standard, Dust on the furniture, grime around most fixtures, including shower, sinks, etc. The maid only arrived on the second day to replace the garbage bag. She did nothing else, neither tidying up or changing linen, etc. I can only assume the maid is a relative or volunteer, since she obviously had little motivation to work.
Kitchen was poorly equipped with bugs crawling around the countertops And it is doubtful that it has rarely seen any cleaning product.
The furniture has seen better days and is often broken or rickety. again, there is no evidence of routine repairs and maintenance.
Room is stuffy and dark, although the air conditioners were quite effective.
The website Photos must have been taken many years ago, as they bare little resemblance to the reality of today.
The location, garden and pool are first rate, although the presence of one young couple with their naked infant defecating and urinating in the pool was somewhat disconcerting and limited our pool time. May the parents enjoy their e-coli laden existence.
I do credit the owners for their Internet skills, as I can’t imagine that many of the positive reviews were generated by anyone who paid to stay at Ola Bonita.
All in all, a disappointing stay and a real challenge if you are looking to find a value for money proposition in the Playa Hermosa world.
