Beautiful peaceful ryokan with the full Japanese experience. We loved both of the bookable bathhouses- great after a chilly day in the Deer Park. The kaiseki dinner in your own private adjoining dining room was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were all very lovely. Highly recommend.

A true and well located ryokan right next to Nara Park and 10 minutes walking from the Kintetsu train station. Wonderful experience incl the keitatsu dinner experience. Sleeping was ok as it’s more of a cushion than a mattress on the floor

Amazing room, especially for the price, even as a solo traveller. Would definitely recommend (and have done to friends and family already). Great location, can see the deer from the window. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Basically an apartment, with a hob to cook on, a washing machine, just amazing. I can praise highly enough. Wish I could have stayed longer, and will definitely return if I ever go to Japan again.

Amazing stay in a beautiful and modern japanese style hotel. Everything was in brand new condition and extremely clean. I regret that there was no curtains in the room. The access is quite good if you take the busses down the road. Close to both Nara and Osaka by train.

Hotel was clean, staff friendly and in a perfect spot for those that want some peace at the end of the day. Private Shower or use of Public Bath (which is very nice to soak aching feet). Sarusawa Pond is beautiful to look out at either from the terrace or local Starbucks. Wild Deer on your doorstep and Nara Park a short walk. Plenty of food spots to pick from covering most if not all styles (including macdonalds if you're picky).
Perfect Stay, would 100% stay again.

My daughter and I stayed here for just one night on a short trip from Tokyo. We came specifically for the Omizutori festival. Though we did swing by the Yamazaki distillery on the way back through Kyoto!
We didn't have much choice of hotel but we picked the New Wakasa because of the spa.
The hotel staff were very friendly and super efficient. They organised transport, guides and even hand warmers for the festival as it was heading below zero that night.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Nara
Book for the cheapest times: Nara offers a wealth of historical and cultural attractions, including temples, gardens, monuments, and natural parks, making it a brilliant destination for those exploring on a budget. Affordable hotel prices may drop during January, February, and September, providing great value for money travellers. A stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended to fully appreciate the rich history and culture of Nara while visiting its key landmarks and natural attractions.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: You may discover attractive hotel deals in Nara by exploring the Dealsopens in new window section on Hotels.com. Should your plans change unexpectedly, the Last-Minute Deals section could offer reduced rates on hotels, especially near your travel dates. To further assist your search, Hotels.com provides the Smart Shopping tool via its app, allowing you to compare hotel prices and available amenities, so you're more likely to secure the best option when prices drop or rooms become available.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may differ depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year. Being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a Nara hotel. For those seeking something a little different, boutique hotels offer a more personalised experience and may provide better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is higher or lower than average, and if it is on the higher side, we might suggest alternative dates that could help you find a more affordable option.
Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Nara’s excellent public transport links, you might find an independent hotel further afield that is still well connected and more likely to be affordable. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
