Very happy with our stay
Best part of our stay on the island. The monument is impressive, and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant menu is limited but we were happy with the ambiance and food. We would recommend the hotel for those who appreciate historical buildings

amazing location
Fabulous location, needs a little bit of updating - the room was a luxury room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was fab but the shower was in the bath with no hook or screen so you had to sit in the bath to have a shower The customer service was very poor on arrival; we had struggled up the hill with bags from the port - i could not and still cannot see any info about a courtesy bus on the website - there was no one at the desk at 19:00; a member of staff had just walked out the door as i arrived with other guests but said nothing, staff were in the bar but no one came over or said anything until a phone rang when a manager came flying over - no eye contact or word with me answered the phone and then left! after 10 mins a member of staff came up - no word of apology and proceeded to give us a guided tour whilst we were carrying heavy bags Apart from this we had no dealings with hotel staff during our 5 night stay until departure which was dealt with very quickly and efficiently with a lift to the port

A Night (or 3) at the Museum
The Citadelle Vauban Hôtel Musée was certainly a fantastic experience. Staying in an actual fortified museum with so much history in every nook and cranny was something that we will never forget. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful at check-in, showing us all the way to our room at the furthest reaches of the hotel. The room was extremely well presented and comfortable, and the view was to die for...looking out over the waterway towards Quiberon, and overlooking the harbour. Make sure you have a meal in the restaurant, as it was extremely good value for money, with the wait staff extremely professional and friendly. Also a visit to the museum (included in the stay) is a must. A fantastic way to visit Belle-Île-en-mer.

An amazing historic building that is a hotel!
The hotel is an amazing historical building and we had fantastic views over the sea. The room was very large and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and the island is a beautiful place, especially in the sun, with lots of places to explore. We hired electric bikes which was a first time experience which made getting around the island so easy. The hotel restaurant had a slightly limiting menu but there are plenty of restaurants in the town. Two slight negatives were the walking route from the port to the hotel is not clear, and at least 2 other couples lost their way. Also some of the staff seemed a bit indifferent in their approach to customer service.

Absolutely magical.
Staying at Citadelle Vauban is like taking a trip back in time. The place is a cornucopia of history and everything is so beautifully preserved and presented. Every day we discovered a new and intriguing secret passageway or dungeon. And the view over the ocean is breathtaking. I will definitely return :-)

Revelling in history
An imaginative, respectful and interesting transformation of one wing of a tremendous fortress into a hotel; superb site dominating the harbour.

Belle Hotel on belle Ile
A luxury hotel set in a 16th century citadel. A spectacular opportunity to stay inside a museum but with all the comforts. Restaurant on property is terrific. Staff couldn't have been nicer, went out of the way to make our stay memorable

Great escape !
We loved it! - spectacular views and best location in Town, great room and very friendly staff. Very relaxing and peaceful retreat. I would definitely recommend staying there for a night or more, an ideal base to explore the island. I would also rate the restaurant which offers some great cuisine and top quality wines. Watch-out for the birds during your breakfast as these "goelands" also love your croissants! - great opportunity for nice close-up photos but these animals can be vicious...

Localisation exceptionnelle

Trotz allem wars wunderbar.
