Arrived by taxi from airport at 22.30. Then found note on door "Reception closed 22.00 - 06.00, please collect key from Kocks Hotel, 500 metres toward town". Quite unacceptable, with no advance warning, to have to face 1000 metre walk, with luggage, to get key. Fortunately the weather was fine, and despite being aged 70 I am not frail. Also I had an online map on my phone to tell me the direction towards town.
It is UNACCEPTABLE to have such an arrangement, without it being notified at time of booking. For more frail people, or those with heavy luggage, this would be very distressing. Other solutions, such as a notified key code for the door, and key code secure box inside for the key, are possible.
Once inside, the hotel is comfortable and spotlessly clean. The décor is unusual and quirky, but exactly as shown. The bed very comfortable, the television and free wifi good.
One other disappointment was that the vending machines only contained chocolate, and high sugar carbonated drinks or water. More options are perfectly possible. On the other hand, next morning the breakfast was good, with a choice of good quality cheese, meats, fruit compote and yoghurts, and excellent warm rolls.
Good value for money, and a reasonable walk to the Ubahn. A good choice for a short stay, if only you can get in.
