Before our stay, we were unexpectedly relocated to a lower-quality hotel because they were unable to accommodate our original reservation. This led to hours of phone calls with Hotels.com and lengthy email exchanges with the hotel, creating a stressful and frustrating situation.
When we finally arrived, hoping for a relaxing stay, we were surprised to find that a major football match was taking place. The hotel was largely closed off, with security guards stationed throughout. Due to my claustrophobia, I was not allowed to use the stairs to reach my room, which caused significant distress. The guards were rude, and we didn’t feel welcome at all. The first day was truly awful.
Although we were later upgraded to a suite as a gesture to make up for the experience, the entire situation had already cast a shadow over our stay and ruined much more than just the first impression.
