Cute hotel.
We were in room 5 and the A/C was struggling to cool the room. It may need some maintenance. The room was nice, clean and a good size with a pretty balcony. Breakfast was perfect and managed well by a senora on her own. Stairs are steep and challenging for us with pets and my husband with a bad knee, but I believe they have rooms on the first floor. It was a bit noisy at night because our room overlooked the park and there are a couple cafes nearby but everything got quiet after midnight. It may be noisier on weekends. We probably won't stay again because of the stairs but otherwise it is cute and nicer than many other places in the Colonial Zone.

A wonderfully situated little place with character, and super helpful staff. I was originally in room 4 but that night saw a mouse in the room -- the staff immediately searched the whole room, found a hole in the back of the closet and apparently blocked it up the next day. They immediately moved me to a nicer room (room 5 -- beautiful with a great view, although a little noisy at night as people sit in the park and play music).

Location is next to a small park/plaza with low traffic noise. Hotel has a nice rooftop where food is served, and also couches for relaxing. Breakfast is good with plenty of food and fresh fruit. Staff is very helpful. Great location for walking around the Zona Colonial.

Overall ok. The bathroom sink was leaking. I was only there for one night so I made due. They gave my upgraded room to another party and I waited 3 hours for them to change it. The area is nice but can be loud. The floors could be cleaner .

Good value for the price
The room was large and very bright with a balcony and a terrace overlooking a beautiful park. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was fine. The location of the hotel is very good...just a few blocks from The cathedral or the Malecon.

4/10 Fair

When we checked in for a two night stay, we were informed that they had overbooked our room for the following night; consequently we had to move to another hotel. Secondly, the amenities were not as per the ad, nor was the hot tub up and running, very disappointed. To beat all, when we tried to pay, we were advised when I called, that they were actually closed .. my thought .. no overbook, just wanted a day off, now on the other hand, Casa Neimi's (the hotel that we moved to) superb staff, excellent service and facilities more than made up for our disappointment.

Perfect location for Colonial Zone walking
This was my first trip to the DR, and my only night staying in Santo Domingo. I was on a work trip, and this was my day off before heading home. When I got there, the person who was working could not find any record of my reservation, and spoke no English, and I spoke no Spanish. But she was very helpful and friendly, and invited me up to the rooftop cafe, made me coffee and got the manager to come from wherever he was to see if he could help me out. It was some kind of glitch with Hotels.com booking a room that was not available, but it turned out that someone else had not showed up for their booking, and a room was actually available after all. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Rooftop breakfast was great, coffee was great, room was great, clean and comfortable with working AC and decent internet. Location was fantastic, easy walking to the sights and sounds of the Colonial Zone and lots of dining and drinking options. I had the room on the first floor right next to the entrance, and as others have noted, it was a bit noisy with the street sounds and people coming and going, however it was not a big deal for me at all. I was happy to put up with a little extra noise to be in the Colonial Zone, instead of out by the airport where my job would have lodged me. If noise is an issue for you, try to get one of the rooms upstairs if you can.

We stayed at Casa de Sol for our first night in DR. Having never been before we were uncertain of were to stay. This hotel’s position is fabulous being right on the corner of the old town and close to everything within walking distance. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was served on the upstairs terrace which provided a good view of the small square below and the abundant bird life. The meal was simple and delicious with great coffee. While we were enjoying breakfast a humming bird arrived to drink from the feeder set up by the hotel. It was a beautiful and unexpected moment we will treasure forever. We had dinner at the restaurant directly across the street which was also fabulous. Would stay there again.

Quaint boutique inn in great location
Check in was quick and room was available early. We had room No.5 which may very well be the best room - view of the park and a nice balcony, very bright room. Staff was friendly and efficient, breakfast was sumptuous. The restaurant and tapas bar across the street is very popular amongst locals and there was a birthday celebration at the park over the weekend. There are people but its never crowded. Some people may think it's noisy though. Close to the sights and other tourist restaurants.

A really nice place for a solo traveler or couple on a budget to stay. Great breakfast to start the day. Terrific local Spanish restaurant across the street to finish the day.

Clean,private, all good
I stay in this area often but this is my first time at this hotel. My experience overall was very good. Though for some bookings they expect you to pay in cash. The place was very clean, the rooftop breakfast is lovely. The staff is great. I would stay again and highly recommend . The area is the best in the capital. Very safe and pretty.

Great hotel in a great location
Hotel was a very nice place. The room was very bright and had very nice private balcony and patio. Daily included breakfast was a REAL breakfast with eggs, ham, toast, etc. Not just a continental breakfast. There was some confusion upon checking out because we did not know they were "Cash Only" and I did not know where to get cash. There was no ATM very close to the hotel and we needed to catch a cab for the airport. When we checked in, the Manager had told us that he did not have a Credit Card swiping machine, but we thought he meant only he could not swipe it at that point. Suggestion is to place huge sign at the front desk that reads "CASH ONLY" in many languages.
