The owner of this hotel attempted to have me cancel my prepaid booking with Expedia and pay him directly at least twice as much as I had originally paid. Then he claimed my original booking was at a different hotel in a different town even though the address and phone on my Expedia confirmation matched his location.
He refused to allow me to check in. He intended to keep the nearly $800.00 that I had prepaid for a two week stay and also intended for me to drive at 11pm at night as a single female traveler to seek out this “other” hotel in a town that was at least 45 minutes away.
He was deceptive, dishonest, and drunk. After two and a half hours of forced negotiations, the staff honored the booking only after the owner must have passed out.
At the same time, rather then accommodate me at a different hotel, Expedia made me personally wait and fight to stay at a place that was inhospitable and literally under constant construction.
I endured scathing stares every time I had to see the owner for 2 weeks. I could not find another hotel at the same rate with a kitchen in the area. Additionally, I was not offered a refund so I felt forced to stay.
I only write this to inform travelers that this could happen again. I feel bad for the rest of the staff as they were kind. I would sincerely advise you to think twice before choosing this hotel. I believe the character of the owner is highly unlikely to change and I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.
