We stayed 4 nights, and enjoyed Onsen everyday, bento box lunch for our days trips and dinner on 3 nights. Staff were very helpful with ideas to explore the island.

Ideal to catch early flight
It is pricey but worth the money. 5 minutes to the airport on foot. I can catch the early flight comfortably after breakfast and hot spring. There variety choice of hot spring. Buffet breakfast is average standard. Dinner is great.

Very comfortable stay and easy access to airport
This ryokan/hotel is good value and perfect if you're arriving/departing via the airport. It's very well maintained and feels mostly very new. A very comfortable stay with friendly and attentive staff. As with many good ryokans, there is a homely feel to the place. Apparently it's the only hotel in Yakushima with a licensed onsen (I'm not 100% sure), which is great especially if you're into that. I soak 3 times a day so it was definitely a plus for me after a day of hiking. The onsen itself is average, I feel. I don't know how to rate onsets really, this one doesn't feel as good as many others I've been to in Japan. I was told by someone else (not hotel staff) that the water is heated and not naturally hot like most hot springs), so that could be the reason it didn't feel 100% right. But - it's still a perfectly fine onsen. The breakfast buffet is the only real downer - not that it's bad, but many of these Japanese hotels just don't serve up great breakfasts. I was told that the hotel packs a good bento lunch box though for hikers (even though I didn't try it). The other thing to note that the area is pretty dead at night. An Italian restaurant around 10 minutes walk away provides the only real dinner option (the food is pretty good though and the owner speaks good English). Overall, this is a great stay for those coming/leaving by plane and looking for ryokan-style accommodation with onsen.

Awesome traditional Japanese dinner! Loved the natural hot spring onsen! Stuff were very friendly. We had a traditional Japanese room with 2 twin bed and 2 sets of futon ( which we didn’t use . ) We enjoyed our stay very very much!

Pretty Ryokan
Overall I enjoy my stay bec of good service. Sadly onsen shower heater was spoilt and toilet light is spoilt too. Ryokan dinner experience was good. Room is comfortable. But be warned.. there is quite a bit of stairs..

Absolutely overpriced
The hotel doesn't really appear like the photos, our room was in a circular silo looking building and had mould all over the inside and under the beds. For the price we paid, >330 AUD a night and only one other place to eat in the vicinity, you'd expect a free breakfast at least, but the breakfast and dinner were both pretty awful and expensive. The staff, however, were nice enough though and helped us out where required.

Nice hotel, good value, but some issues
Overall we liked the hotel itself, but we were not given the initial room that we had booked online. Instead we were given an outdoor concrete "yurt-like" room, which was quite large but smelled bad due to humidification issues. No other beds were available for two nights, but they transferred us on the third night into another room which was much better. Not sure if the problem with the room was the hotel's fault or expedia's fault. Regardless, it was frustrating to not have the room we booked.
Onsen (baths) were nice and clean. Easy to access location, although not up in the woods or anything (so not particularly charming location). Other than the outdoor "yurt-like" rooms, facilities were overall pretty nice. Would consider staying here again, but would make sure beforehand that they have the room we actually wanted. Although that may be difficult, as staff for the most part only speak Japanese.
