Best in Exeter
We spent a very relaxing w/e at Southernhay House. The rooms are luxurious, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff are welcoming, friendly and accommodating.
Bar and restaurant are both beautifully designed with many references to the building's historic past. The food was excellent also.

Very comfortable bed . Incredible bath . Very convenient for cathedral , station and sights .
Staff very courteous .
Only whinge is for the cost of the room I would have expected more choice of tea s , coffees milk etc and maybe a pack of biscuits !!
Despite warning I thought more care could have been taken for dietary intolerances or warning me to find an alternative restaurant for evening meal .
Nice quiet location in attractive street close to city centre, charming hotel, really friendly staff and excellent breakfast, would definitely stay again.

A comfortable stay.
This small hotel has an interesting history and is very close to shopping and the Exeter Quayside. We received a very warm welcome on arrival, with tea and biscuits. Our bedroom was very comfortable with a well appointed bathroom. Although a limited menu for dinner the food was freshly prepared, plentiful and delicious. Breakfast is excellent with fresh orange juice, pastries, and a good choice of hot dishes. Loved the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup! Like dinner everything was freshly prepared. Service was friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The only downside is the lack of parking on site but there is plenty of on street parking and a multi storey car park is only three minutes away.

Good stay away from boring chains
Good hotel that’s a change from the chains. Didn’t have hair conditioner in the rooms which I thought was odd and there is a student block opposite which has a lot of noise middle of the night

This hotel has a fantastic location, minutes from the cathedral and all shops and restaurants. The team at this hotel are so welcoming and helpful and serve the most beautiful and well thought out breakfast...little pot of berries, yoghurt and granola, mini croissants, fresh orange juice and then a delicious menu to select your actual breakfast from. The bar is a really nice area and they make great cocktails. Would highly recommend this place!

Gem in central Exeter
Great to find a well appointed , clean , characterful hotel with thoughtful touches and not too commercial . Lots of atmosphere in the bar on Friday evening . Didn’t stay for breakfast as I had booked room only - but smelt and looked great as I walked past on the Saturday morning . Will definitely be back .
