8/10 Very good

Nighttime and weekend security is lax. Bathrooms could use updating. Excellent staff!!

The escape we needed

This old estate home in the middle of a state park is the retreat we all need once and a while. The grounds were lovely. The staff was friendly, helpful and personable. We enjoyed every minute at the Manor House and would definitely return if planning to be anywhere close to Clemmons. Relaxing. Comfortable beds. Quiet rooms. Beautiful setting. Even a rainy weekend did not diminish the grandeur of this B&B.

6/10 Good

The area is very nice and relaxing. My only concern about the stay was the cleanliness of the bathroom. In the evening there were insects in the bathroom apparently coming from the wall. The receptionist said it happens sometimes, and they have been struggling

Loved the location. Loved the wildlife. Loved the quietness. Loved all the green. Never saw any staff. Cold breakfast. No hot coffee. Had to make your own. All self serve. If you had any questions you had to call someone. No one around.

Good just not Great

The grounds are amazing, the house itself needs a little work. The beds are not comfortable and the bathroom needs an update, hot water was hit and miss. When we needed something it was hard to find the host. Will all that said this could be outstanding just a few fixes.

Loved the grounds. Walking paths, Security gate, courteous staff, continental breakfast. Overall it was a beautiful setting. I would recommend it to my friends.

4/10 Fair

Beautiful property; disappointing accommodations.

I'm disappointed to have to write such a negative review, but I wanted to make sure other people's expectations could be set properly before visiting! Let's start with the good. The property is lovely. There are horses and walking trails and gardens. The setting is peaceful and there is lots to do outside in this area! However, our experience with the Manor House itself was very disappointing. 1. The website really focuses on culinary excellence. "Our chef curates daily breakfast offerings based on seasonal availability" and "approachable fine dining" and "timeless hospitality with modern polished service." Unfortunately, the only food offering available at this time was a lackluster continental breakfast with packaged foods and self serve Keurig coffee. They said they sent an email (we didn't receive) to let us know that they aren't serving hot breakfast, but the website still touts the dining experience as a major part of a stay, and we were so disappointed to find self serve continental in place of the breakfast we expected. 2. There was no hot water for shower. It was lukewarm at best. 3. The beds were very uncomfortable. One bed in our room was acceptable, but the other was so hard we couldn't sleep in it. 4. The room felt old and musty with bugs and mold in the bathroom. We ended up leaving early and staying somewhere else for our last night. We really wanted to love this place; I can see that at one point it was probably great, but it could use some work.

6/10 Good

The location and setting are great! The park is absolutely beautiful. The decor was lovely and the room was huge, The fitted sheets would not stay on the bed and they, the mattress, the pillows and/or the pillowcases smelled like mildew. The bathroom floor looked dirty and the grout was in very desperate need of cleaning. I hate to complain about those things when the place is so beautiful, but cleanliness is very important to me and in the hotel’s control.
Tonya, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Most unique property that I think I have stayed at. The room was great. Hot water was hit or miss. Had to take my own trash out twice. It poured most of the week that I was there. Having a smart tv would have helped. Never even saw staff?

Relaxing location

The Manor is on some of the most beautiful property. This is a great location to get in a good run or walk. There is an arboretum across from the house. Comfortable and quiet. One of the best breakfasts!
Cheryl, 1-night trip

It was a quiet little get away right from the heart of Winston. Huge property to explore, looking forward to go back in the summer to experience it on a sunny day!
Gillard, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Our room was the smallest room, but it was a nice room. The price was good, and the service was good. The gardens and the general area of Tanglewood Park is so wonderful. I saw a dozen or so of deer at night driving into the Manor House. Nice view. Enough hot water this time. If they had a small desk, that would have been perfect for us.
Junko, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Loved the location, the aesthetic, the easy late check-in, and the friendly communication. This is a unique stay that allows us to spend more worry free time an Tanglewood park while supporting a worthwhile cause.

6/10 Good

Very comfortable bed and clean, spacious room. Only warm water for bath No cooked breakfast Have stayed in the past and missed the vintage furniture in parlors.
Dewey, 1-night trip

Historic home of the Reynolds family, nicely restored, with access to the entire property, including great trails, tennis, lake, etc. Fresh cooked breakfast was wonderful. Highest recommendation!
Bryan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Great value in a great environment. Loved our stay. Wonderful breakfast. However, if you sleep in late, the hot water may be limited.

6/10 Good

I like the park area and that it's secluded but I think the whole area needs more lighting at night since it gets pretty dark at night.

A beautiful vintage house with its own arboretum near Winston-Salem. Charming & Rachel who checked me in & was our breakfast waitress was A ! I am intrigued- RJ Reynolds donated the Tanglewood land & house which is run by a non-profit organization.

Visiting this property was an incredibly relaxing experience. I was hosting an event at Tanglewood, and being able to stay nearby was helpful. The staff was amazing. Thank you, Rachel.
