Good on surface
Hotel has been refurbished to give a boutique look. Room was not as clean as previous visits. Fecal traces in toilet and cobwebs in bathroom with crumbs on floor. Coffee tray was meanly stocked and coffee bags were not good. Bed was comfortable and decoratively it looked good.

Review of stay
After a slight delay as there seemed to be a shortage of staff at a busy time I was greeted and received with courtesy and offered an additional night as I requested. Staff were friendly and efficient. The shower was a challenge until I'd figured the controls out (the labelling is in tiny letters and difficult to read). I was surprised no air con in the bedroom but was able to adjust the temperature at the radiator.

Family occasion stay
Everything about this hotel was wonderful. Really tastefully decorated rooms, the beds were comfy and bedding lovely. The staff were so friemdly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant served a wide range of products for all meals and snack times. We loved the breakfast xhoices, and favourite meals were sausage and mash, with halloumi fries as our favourite bar snack. Fantastic stay which was great value for money.

Himley House stay
The hotel has undergone a substantial refurbishment with the external work still being finished. We were very happy with the comfortable bed, power shower, and little extra touches like chocolate on arrival. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and good value. We would definitely stay again.

Disappointed
I like Himley House. It’s been my go to in the area. They’ve spent a fortune on refurbishing the rooms but let themselves down this week with poor service in the restaurant. Staff appeared aloof. I was ignored by restaurant staff who all walked past and no one even acknowledged me as I waited. Slow service although they didn’t appear too busy. Starter arrived before my drink had arrived. Main course had been sitting under the heat lamps for a while judging by the temperature of my side salad and plate. No Wi-Fi from about 9pm until 8.30am which was a pain as I had work and phone reception was poor. Room was boiling and window had been screwed shut so unable to cool it down or let in fresh air. Window outlook would have been ok but builders had dumped a load of rubbish outside. Considering how much money has been spent it’s a little disappointing to be let down by poor customer service and irritating minor defects. I’m hoping this is just a temporary blip and normal service will be resumed.
