We recently spent a night at The Retro Inn in Cortez, CO, and it was a wonderful experience! We stayed in room 1984, which had a fun Miami Vice theme and two very comfortable queen beds. The room was massive—much bigger than we expected—and the bathroom was large and super clean, making our stay extra relaxing.
The biggest surprise was the hidden pocket door in the room. When we slid it open, we couldn’t believe it: a full-size eat-in kitchen! It had everything you could possibly need—dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and even a dining area. At first, we thought we had accidentally wandered into someone else’s space! I went to the front desk to ask, and the friendly staff assured us it was all part of our room. It was such an amazing bonus!
It truly felt like we were staying in a charming, retro home, and the whole experience had a cozy, lived-in vibe that we absolutely loved. It was such a great deal for what we got, and we only wished we had more time to enjoy it all, but we had other plans in the area.
The staff we met were so friendly and helpful, and the grounds of the inn were adorable—full of retro charm and fun little touches. We left feeling like we’d discovered a hidden gem and can’t wait to go back. We’re already planning a return trip so we can stay even longer and really soak in everything The Retro Inn has to offer. If you’re in Cortez, I highly recommend staying here—it’s a unique, comfortable, and super cool spot!
