I chose this hotel not only because of the favorable price compared to the beach properties in August, but because of its location too - it's similarly near (or far) to Chania (where my airport was) and Heraklion, which is the main city on the island. Not to mention Rethymo, which is probably the most charming town in Crete.
The room size and condition is very good, the whole hotel looks nice and charming. Their breakfast is quite good, the wifi... I didn't even think about it, that's how good it was. The mountain air is great, nights are cool and the sleep quality is just great - and it's so quiet in this little village in the middle of the mountain. Oh, and it's very, very clean!
The only minus for me was the reception working hours (7-21), but that didn't limit my freedom, even though I was leaving very early - they told me to just drop the keys at the reception. It would only be a problem if you arrive very late - but this just wasn't my case.
