The brief stay

When we arrived at the Gateway Hotel at 3.30pm the front door was locked, so had to phone the hotel to let us in. The reception was closed, when they said it would be manned from 3pm to 10.30pm. The double room was clean, but no information folder found in room. No fire escape information given. Breakfast was ok, but we did miss the proper pork bacon. On the postive side, we requested a ground floor room, which was given.

Very clean hotel with very pleasant staff.

Lovely hotel. The only downfall was there was no air conditioning so we had to have the window open and then was really noisy with traffic and trains going by. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and a lovely breakfast before we left

Nobody at the desk when we arrived and hotel locked. Lady serving breakfast cried the entire service. Also breakfast is only 7.00-08.30 which should have been stated on booking because I ended up paying for breakfast I couldn’t have as I was unable to get up on time- 4 breakfasts paid but only 2 taken. Also cleaning lady thought it was appropriate to knock on the door and ask when I was leaving before check out time and demanded my room key. Could do with some lessons on manners and etiquette.
