If you're planning a bit of sightseeing during your trip, head to Skanderbeg Square – just one of the monuments in central Tirana. You could also start your cultural experience by heading over to the museums in the area.
You can browse the exhibits at National Historical Museum, a museum with a story of its own, during your travels to Tirana. While you're here, you can savour the top-notch restaurants.
You can catch an event at Air Albania Stadium, located 0.7 mi (1.1 km) from central Tirana. If you think Air Albania Stadium is cool, you might also like Selman Stermasi Stadium, located nearby.
Wander Skanderbeg Square, marvelling at the colourful buildings and lively atmosphere of this revitalised city centre. Explore the National History Museum's fascinating exhibits before savouring traditional Albanian cuisine at bustling outdoor cafes.
City in transition, building work everywhere and the city will soon change and modernise. Both local currency euros welcomed everywhere. Have to be careful crossing roads, as drivers tend to be very fast. Felt safe walking around the centre at night

Tirana exceeded my expectations. Would be a great choice for a weekend city trip. Easily walkable city but with great public transport so very easy to get around, including further afield to the cable card and Bunkart 1. Great bars and restaurants.

Tirana is a wonderful, vibrant city with so much going on and a real buzz to the place. Loads to see, lots of history, and a great place to just wander around. The locals are so friendly and welcoming and I felt really safe as a solo traveller.

Tirana was very beautiful, I'd recommend the house of leaves museum and visiting the dajti mountain cable car. Food recommendations would be terracotta 2 restorant for Italian food, and restorant tymi we tried local dishes there.

The lake and park are a must see. Lots of shopping options if you're looking for designer dupes. People are friendly and service is very good in most restaurants and stores. We stayed 2 nights and could have stayed longer.

Great restaurants, great food, great service. If you combine the best restaurants in Italy and Greece, you will find them here in Tirana!

Loved the city, on our last night in Albania, visited the square, pyramid, park and lake, ate at Millennium Garden near the castle which was good. Visited BunkArt1 (20 minutes drive which was good, but more a war museum than info about bunker.

Tirana is a cute city, smaller than many European cities. We had a wonderful time. Everyone we encountered was friendly and spoke English. We enjoyed the bazaar and the house of leaves museum. The pyramid and bunkart 2 were underwhelming.

Worth visiting Bunkerart2 and Museum of Leaves. However be aware neither venues accept cards only cash. And charges for ATM are extremely high for smallish amounts, around 50% on a £15 for cash for the museum
"We loved our stay. The staff was excellent. Alteo checked us in and explained everything. Breakfast was great. About 17 minute walk to the big square in town. "
"A great modern hotel in a perfect location, central and walkable to everything but very quiet and hidden away with a nice outdoor terrace. Friendly staff and great value for such a nice central 4* hotel. Lovely rainfall showers and very modern bathrooms, free water provided every day. Highly recommended."
"We have stayed at the Plaza several times and have enjoyed it greatly every time. It is a beautiful hotel with excellent, attentive, friendly service. The rooms and hallways and the entire hotel is always clean and neat! This is luxury done right! "
