We had been in Lisbon for a week. Lisbon is great, but like any other city, the noise/hustle/stress starts to get to you. We still had a couple of non-refundable nights remaining at our hotel, but decided to book at Estoril Vintage anyway, because... well, you only live once.
Words cannot describe this place - but here goes... If you have ever wondered how the 'other half' lives, you can find out here. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The room (which got upgraded through Expedia!) was over the top. Our place in Lisbon had a full size bed so coming to the King with luxurious sheets and turn down service was to die for. The pool was perfect with wait staff taking care of us as we relaxed in our chaise loungers. It is a short walk to the beach and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
In my real life, I am in real estate and consider myself pretty blue collar. I have stayed in lots of places from three to five star. I am definitely NOT the kind of person to rave like this about anything, really. But hear me when I say that if you are travelling to LIsbon and want a few days at the beach -- you are out of your GD mind if you do not stay here. It is that good. If there were such a thing as a 6 star hotel.....
The train from Lisbon is a piece of cake so do not be intimidated. 40 minute straight shot down the coast. I normally avoid public transport in foreign countries but Lisbon has a great, simple, cheap system.
