The Victoria Hotel Melbourne
"Room was clean but showed lots of wear. Worn out and holes in the carpet. The biggest complaint was finding the window to the room which overlooks an alley was stuck open and the crank didn't work, additionally the window did not have a screen. Staff was able to come and fix the window. The water smelled incredibly sulfurous. Overall found it acceptable for the price and location."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Melbourne
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Melbourne is during May, June, and August, when hotel prices are generally lower. For those looking to explore the city's remarkable landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This timeframe allows visitors to fully appreciate Melbourne's urban architecture, vibrant dining scene, diverse museums, and iconic skyscrapers, making it a budget-friendly option for those seeking great value for money. With hotel rates potentially dropping during these months, it's an ideal opportunity for those travelling on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: You may discover enticing hotel deals to Melbourne by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com. For those seeking last-minute stays, the Last-Minute Deals area might present discounted options near your travel date. Additionally, you’re more likely to see price drops and availability updates by enabling notifications, ensuring you remain informed of flash sales. The Smart Shopping tool, available via the Hotels.com app, assists travellers in comparing hotel prices and amenities, offering a convenient way to secure a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and season, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a Melbourne hotel. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels might offer a more personalised experience and occasionally better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average; if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially secure a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but thanks to Melbourne's outstanding public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
