Great hotel
Great hotel with nice bar serving Butcombe beer and an Indian restuarant delicious food , great wine £20. Very handy for proximity to Thames path. Even breakfast quite ok. Nice big bedrooms.

The evening meal was amazing, the rooms were okay and breakfast wasn't too good

Basic accommodation in lovely part of oxford
Great location - lovely area. More of a pub/restaurant with rooms than a hotel. Room was small and functional - clean bedding and towels. Shower did not work ( there was a bath too) and no instructions so took a while to work out how to get wall hairdryer switched on.

My room was warm and clean and the bed comfortable. However the shower fitment was very old, didn’t work properly and had little hot water. Breakfast was poor although coffee was good.

Faulty Towers!
We paid over £100 I expected a bed not to feel the springs coming through. The staff were friendly, but it was like walking into faulty towers in the 1970’s There was holes in the net curtains, the ceiling wallpaper was taped up , the moved as you twisted it. The only thing that was good was the breakfast. The turkey rashers and chicken sausages were nice! And it was free parking.

Not great,mould/damp. Good location, not stay again
Pleasant welcome on arrival with offer of complimentary breakfast but was between 0830 and 0930 only and so no use as has to be at a conference. Single room (not sure what other rooms are like) was cold with a small oil heater. Room was cold in the morning with no central heating at 0700 and water was too cold to shower at that time (now have a sore throat). Mould on all the windows and damp (this is an old building but could clean this up). Not healthy to stay in for longer periods and asthmatics will be troubled. The pic of the walk in cupboard smelt so damp that best kept the door closed. There was a dead wasp on my pillow, brushed onto the floor (prob still there in front of window. Sheets seemed clean. Otherwise location to get into Oxford was good, a 6 minute walk then 15 minute bus journey. I would not stay again and would have asked for a refund as now unwell with a cold and sore throat from the room and mould.

Well located property with good facilities and helpful staff. Rooms would benefit from some updating but they were clean and for the price and location, very good!

Good location, clean, friendly staff
Clean and warm and in lovely location near river, but short bus ride to centre. Decor is dated, but friendly helpful staff and quaintly charming in a way.

needs a bit of TLC to the rooms and hotel Staff not very helpful or friendly at breakfast none really spoke to us and we werent even sure if we could get a cooked breakfast or not until we were silently handed a bit of paper with the choices!

This was not an inexpensive hotel. My room was a single bed, tiny only a small space between it and the dressing table. The shower didnt work properly, i needed a vice like grip to turn the handle. Paint was peeling off the window frames and the facilities were from the 60's Very poor for the price

Like: Indian food was delicious. Shower was perfect. Great quiet area with lovely walk-about to see > the locks Area Prince of Wales restaurant was also delicious Not: Staff not enthusiastic about being there. Felt like I was work for them. Except the lady staff > she was good. Had that family ownership and I have to be here because this is family feel. Breakfast included was nice, but hope the cook is not absent, then limited options. Rooms were rough > needs some upkeep Some idiot lives in the area with a loud motorcycle and works late, but this probably just happened to be our luck. Overall > it is a place to stay and as long as you are not fussy then you are good to go.

Good value hotel for Oxford and the countryside
Comfortable room in traditional hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Good size hot and continental breakfast. Large car park and easy walk to bus stop for regular buses into the centre of Oxford.

The propert was tired and needed general updating, it was not the cleanest hence a little grubby. Bed and bedlinen was ckean and comfortable bed. We would not stay again.

Very tired and shabby decor, especially in the bedrooms. Paper and tiles coming off the walls. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Old with
If you don't mind old standard, there is a bit of a charm to it. It is combined with a pub, including outdoor tables in a garden like environment giving it a touch of a hostel feeling
Peter, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

After seeing some of the negative reviews I was a bit nervous, since we were here for a wedding. But if you go in knowing the score (some pretty dated rooms, above a loud pub) then it's a great deal for the price! Room was big and comfortable. But it definitely wasn't clean or modern, and the bathroom was a bit on the gross side. Breakfast was very nice and the staff very friendly.
David, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Very clean room but the facilities were very dated. Mattress needs to be replaced and a refurbishment is overdue.

Staff are exceptional. Property itself is run down with poor maintenance. An old property needing some TLC.
Lauren, 2-night trip

Convenient and economic
Very convenient hotel for visiting Oxford, plenty of parking, easy walk or bus into the city. The hotel is part of the pub and Bangladeshi restaurant, which is handy although we didn't use either of those - and we weren't disturbed by any noise from them. Breakfast was in the bar area and there were all the normal options. Yes, the place could do with a bit of refreshing but it's fine, it was clean, comfortable and a good budget choice. Staff were very helpful and friendly especially the hotel manager. We would stay again if in the area.
Graham, 2-night trip

Whilst the building and situation were nice, unfortunately it is need of updating! Sheets clean but beds hard. Carpet and decor need refurbishing. Wallpaper hanging off of bathroom ceiling and whilst breakfast ok, not a great deal to choose from.
Sheila, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

While the breakfast and service was good, the hotel was nothing like it was described or like other properties in the neighborhood. We had to leave early due to a family issue and we are happy we did. The mattresses were very old.

I didn’t like the room.extremely small and the bed was of another time .I woke up with backache every day and very small for 2 persons ! Otherwise the location is excellent. Hope they change the bedding soon!
