An industrial port city encompassed by rippling green mountains, Bilbao has long been considered the heart of Spain’s Basque Country. Famed for its Guggenheim Museum, Michelin-star restaurants and nearby Rioja wine region, it’s also a hot spot for retail addicts.
Shopping in Bilbao is quite the affair. Its historic boulevards and plazas are lined with upscale malls, independent boutiques, bargain-filled flea markets and traditional Spanish merchants. Be warned though: this is a city that likes to loosen the purse strings. It’s time to shop, whatever your budget.
