We had the first floor suite or mini apartment with fridge (freezer box above it) microwave, kettle, full size dishwasher and sink. They kindly left us a bottle of red wine and biscuits and two bottles of water. We went to Conad supermarket which wasn’t far by car, we are driving. Or Carrefour express within walking distance in town. Many restaurants locally. Being British we don’t like to eat late. We can recommend Centrale as they were always busy and cooked all day.

Everything worked well from the ease of checking in to the upgraded room overlooking the lake to the excellent, responsive staff. The visit was a delight from start to finish. Of particular note were the arrangements for breakfast and the extreme helpfulness and resourcefulness of the members of the concierge team. Can't speak highly enough of them.

Apartment was huge but felt the space could have been configured a bit better e.g. with a kitchenette or more comfy living area. View was amazing (just be aware that the picture shown is when the trees were very young/ had no leaves and they now cover the lake view). Breakfast was nice. Cleaning was good but would have liked the bed linen to be changed - we stayed for 5 nights and it was not changed.

On our last night in Italy, we decided to stay somewhere well located to get to the airport the next morning. We really weren't expecting our last night pit stop in Ferno to be such a fantastic stay. Everything was high quality; be that the bed and the linen or the recommendations given by our lovely hosts, Andrea and Antonella!

We loved staying in this hotel with its unique history and beautiful decor. It is a special place in a wonderful location and we had fabulous views from our balcony. The walk to Morcote took under 30 minutes with lovely views but you need to wear trainers as the path is uneven. We also enjoyed walking to the castle through the vineyards and exploring lake Lugano by bus and boat. We tended to get Uber taxi’s back up to to hotel as it was a steep climb ( cost 18CHF)

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Stresa
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable period to visit Stresa is during February, November, and December, when hotel rates may drop to lower prices. For those planning to explore the town's rich history and cultural heritage, including its gardens, lake, boating, islands, castle, swimming, marina, sightseeing, ferry, and natural parks, it is suggested to spend at least 3 to 4 days in the area. This budget-friendly destination offers great value for money and is ideal for travellers on a budget who are keen to immerse themselves in its historical landmarks and cultural attractions.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover great savings on hotels in Stresa, visit the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Deals section on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates as your travel date approaches. To maximise your chances of finding flash sales and exclusive last-minute promotions, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see the best options. With these features, you'll be alerted to any changes in availability or pricing, making it easier to book a spontaneous getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more affordable stay in a Stresa hotel. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and can occasionally offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could lead to a more economical option.
Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Stresa's superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well linked. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
