To start with, the advertised rate is for one person, which in my experience is unusual in hotel booking. That is not disclosed until in the process of finalizing booking. On arrival at the locked gate entrance, thirty minutes before check in time, it took 15 minutes for the gardener workers to find the attendant to open the gate. Check in went smoothly, and staff is very helpful. Desk is not attended most of the time, but again the staff are all helpful, but speak only Spanish.
The building and grounds are beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The main lobby has 4 different levels, and steps are not wheelchair friendly. Nor are there handrails on the many steps down to pool level. The pool is good, but the steps down to the pool have no hand rails and are somewhat difficult to see since they are a uniform dark blue color.
The restaurant is located on an open porch which includes a sitting area and the advertised pool table. Very surprising is the list of extras shown on the free breakfast menu, including café at 4000 pesos for a small cup, as well as extras for juice, a bread basket etc. Most of the better resorts in Armenia have a breakfast buffet, but there were only two or three couples during the days we were there. The porch included a potted cactus located at the end of a couch, that delivered a nasty scratch, when brushed against.
The shower and bathroom did not have any grab bars, and a 1 inch step up into bathroom was not senior friendly.
