Sleeping area was dirty and the bathrooms were filthy. I guess that was due to the poor manangent who never seemed to be around when you needed them and didn’t know what they were doing when you found them. I had just arrived in Austin for work, and managed to find a permanent place after the first night. I asked for a refund for my next two nights and one of the management, Josh, began to “process” my refund on his laptop. I should have know something was amiss when he 1) misquoted the price that I had paid for the remaining nights (he said I had paid less), and 2) after he had “processed” it, when I asked if I would be emailed a receipt, he proceeded to shout at me, “No! If you don’t see your refund in 24-48 hours, just call!”.
Of course, after I waited just over the 48 hours, there was no refund in my account. I had to spend my time (and gas) driving back over to HK Austin (as my permanent place is quite far from the hostel, and trying to reach them on the phone is impossible).
I spoke with another of management who promptly processed my refund, and less than 12 hours later, it had posted to my account.
All in all, I do not think this place is worth the headache. Management seemed extremely young and inexperienced (when you could find them). I constantly felt the need to hide my belongings to prevent theft (since the rooms are shared by about 4 strangers who seemed to come out of nowhere).
It’s cheap but you MOST DEFINITELY get what you pay for, without a doubt.
