Friendly Staff, Dirty Rundown Room

We recently stayed at this Staybridge Suites and were unfortunately disappointed with the condition of our room. On a positive note, the staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the public/common areas of the hotel were clean and well-kept. However, the cleanliness and upkeep of our room were far below expectations. There were multiple cleanliness issues including crusty stains on the couch, dusty cobwebs in the corners and ceiling, a stained trundle mattress, and a large hairball on the bathroom floor from a previous guest. We also found dried toothpaste on the wallpaper by the bathtoom sink, pink bacterial buildup in the shower, and garbage (including food and coins) under the couch when we pulled the trundle out. The bathroom flooring was severely warped and spongey, and we encountered 2 large spiders and more established webs in the bathroom near the ceiling. Additionally, getting from the front door to the parking lot required walking through the smoking area, which was very unpleasant especially with a child who has asthma. We’ve had good experiences at other Staybridge Suites in different cities, which made this stay all the more disappointing. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this location due to the poor cleanliness and lack of maintenance of our room.

Not the standard of a Marriott

We were at the hotel due to a medical procedure at St. Mary’s Hospital. We arrived at the front desk to check in and had to wait 15 minutes for the clerk to get off the phone to check in the long line of people that had been standing there waiting. After we checked into our room we went over to the hospital without really looking at the condition of the room. We did notice, however, when we dropped our luggage in the room that it was extremely musty smelling, I compared it to the smell of smelly feet, but we didn’t have time to tell the clerk about it because we had to get over to the hospital for the procedure. When we returned to the room after a long day of waiting at the hospital, we found the room smelling even worse. We went to use the sink in the bathroom and there was water sitting in it, and we could not get the plug to open to drain it. After struggling with it for quite some time, we did get it open, but had to keep it held open with a lid from a coffee cup. Black disgusting stuff gurgled up out of the drain once we got it open. We decided not to use the sink at all because it was not draining as it should’ve. We tried calling the front desk, six times to let them know about the sink in case they wanted us to move rooms, but no one answered the phone. We used the sink in the area by the coffee maker to brush your teeth and wash our face. In the morning when we went to use the shower, we also discovered that the shower would not drain properly either.

Recommendations

I would recommend a few changes to the room. We had to stay for a total of 2 weeks. We had appointments for the Mayo Clinic. I would recommend the upper cabinets are put in for extended stays, a place to store groceries. I would also recommend that the Tv stand is replaced with a dresser so families can unpack suit cases for extended stays and not live out of their suitcases. Front desk service was outstanding. Christine( asst gm) was absolutely a sweetheart. Myself and my fiancé had to visit due to him being diagnosed with cancer. She didn’t even know us and stated that if we needed anything to please let her know. That truly meant a lot. We have never been to Minnesota and the stay and people have been wonderful.

Not worth the money

First of all let me start by saying the pictures online are a lot nicer than the property. For the price I was expecting a little more. We stay at a lot of hotels in Rochester for my son’s appointments and the staff here was by far the friendliest but the hotel itself wasn’t great. The hot tub was broken. It was not listed as broken and that’s one of the only things I look for because our son has a muscle disease. That was really disappointing. Our first room wasn’t vacuumed at all and was very gross. We moved. The second room was better but still not the best. We had a used lotion bottle. We won’t stay again. Truly unfortunate quality because the staff were great!

I was in Rochester for a medical procedure, so I only was at the hotel to sleep. I did not use any of their amenities. I like the free parking and the proximity to the St. Mary's Hospital.

I called the day before I came to make sure there was a pool and hot tub. I got there no hot tub in their defense. They ordered the parts and they never came. I was there for eight days. That’s a long time to wait.

Very Friendly and accommodating Staff. Room was perfect with plenty of room, a nice shower and a comfortable bed. The complimentary fresh baked cookies and variety of beverages available 24 hours at the front desk as well as a great breakfast was a very nice added bonus. I will not hesitate to book this hotel again the next time I will be in the area.
