It was not mentioned during or after booking that this is a self serve hotel. If it wasn't that I was so lucky to come across a very kind gentleman who let me in and told me to check in online, I would've been outside the locked building in coldness for another hour trying to figure things out. That gentleman was even nice enough wait until I finished checking in before he proceeded to his room.
On the contrary, when I came across a staff in the hallway, I was gonna just ask a simple question. The moment I started talking :'Do you know...' She acted all frantic and cut me off and said:'NO! NO!!' As if it's a huge sin for her to be seen, since it's supposed to be self serve? She dashed into the staff elevator, and yelled something not German or English to me and closed the door.
I do want to say the hotel is nice and clean and comfortable. If it wasn't for the above experience I would have given it a better score. I'm not against self serve - if only they had clarify it during booking or in the confirmation email, so that I was prepared. It does justify the price considering the quality of the room. The kitchen ware and microwave are very useful. I did also come across a much nicer staff two days later. She was cleaning another room, and I asked her a simple question and she was very nice and helpful.
The breakfast could use some more variety though. It's ok, not bad but not impressive either. Since it's dropped off as a lunch box, there's very limited selection.
