I was disappointed on the service of the hotel. They were willing to charge extra money when guest asks something. They tried to charge for one hour late check out which is normally understood in most of the hotel. Bed was too old to comfortable sleep comparing to the price.

The Nord has an old style charm That matches with the art and ambiance of Otaru. The interior is modern with flairs of older architecture for artistic purposes and it pulls it off well. The room was clean, but a bit small even for Japanese sized people. I suggest to get something bigger than the comfort double room. Other than that, the Nord was just as good as any other Japanese hotel.

My favourite #1 hotel in Otaru. Very well located and just mins walk to Otaru train station, Otaru canal, KFC & Sakaimachi street and I love the spread of their breakfast ❤️! I booked a Junior Suite and was given #611. I am disappointed cos the room looks dated and totally different from the pic shown on Expedia website. The only difference is there's an extra toilet. The Suite next door to mine is the one I wanted!

The spacious room accommodated our needs, offering comfort with a cozy bed and pillows, ensuring a good night's rest after our skiing activities. In close proximity, numerous shops line the street, offering confectionery snacks, cakes, and biscuits. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful, providing clear directions when asked about nearby shops. Convenient parking was available at the hotel, costing ¥1,200 for the night. Despite a momentary lapse in misplacing my room card, the hotel's reception promptly returned it when I inquired, showcasing excellent customer service. Kudos to the staff!

Would definitely be back again.
The hotel room itself was lovely, had a nice view of the canal as well. I enjoyed the heated bidet and how there is a separate vanity area with an extra sink! The parking was ¥1200 a night, which we were fine with. But the hotel doesn’t seem to keep track of which cars have paid parking for an extended period so we were asked regularly if we were there for check in and to pay for parking before we were allowed to go to our designated spot. It could definitely be annoying to some guests, so have your parking receipt on hand to avoid the hassle of explaining! :)
