Makarska Old Town
Makarska Old Town wraps you in centuries of history with its honey-colored stone buildings and red-tiled roofs. Wander through narrow cobblestone streets past St. Mark's Church and the Franciscan Monastery while soaking up serious medieval vibes. The palm-lined Riva promenade is where locals and visitors gather to watch boats bob in the crystalline Adriatic waters. Fresh seafood dominates waterfront restaurants where you can sample black risotto with stunning harbour views. Boutique hotels and historic stone apartments make for dreamy stays within these ancient walls. Everything's walkable in this compact area, though those cobblestones definitely call for comfortable shoes.

Ratac
Ratac offers the quintessential Croatian beach experience without the usual tourist circus. The pebble beaches beckon with crystal-clear Adriatic waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Pine groves provide natural shade while the dramatic Biokovo mountains create a jaw-dropping backdrop for your beach days. The coastal promenade invites evening strolls with unforgettable sunset views. Family-run konobas serve fresh seafood and authentic Dalmatian dishes just steps from the water's edge. Accommodation consist mostly of private apartments and small pensions with sea views, giving you that local-living feel. The peaceful residential vibe makes Ratac ideal for travellers seeking a quieter slice of Makarska, just a 15-minute walk from the main town.
Donja luka
Donja luka's waterfront promenade buzzes with life as visitors stroll along the Adriatic Sea. Makarska Beach offers crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming, while palm-lined walkways create a Mediterranean paradise. The harbour fills with colourful fishing boats against the dramatic backdrop of Biokovo mountains, and beachfront cafés serve fresh seafood under the sun. This walkable district connects easily to Makarska's centre by local buses. Hotels and apartments with sea views dominate the accommodation scene, most featuring pools and spa facilities. Summer brings the area alive with beachside bars, water sports, and evening entertainment, making it an ideal spot for travellers seeking coastal charm with modern comforts.
Dugis
Dugis offers travellers a quiet escape with stunning Adriatic Sea views from its hillside perch above Makarska. Mediterranean stone houses with terracotta roofs create a peaceful residential atmosphere where you'll trade tourist crowds for authentic local charm. The pine-scented air and panoramic vistas make the steep walk back from town worth every step. Budget-friendly apartments and family guesthouses dominate the accommodation scene, many featuring sea-view balconies and welcoming hosts. While dining options are limited to a few traditional konobas, Makarska's restaurant district is just a 15-minute walk downhill. The neighborhood's lack of nightlife ensures peaceful evenings after active beach days.
Zelenka
Zelenka's pristine pebble beaches and crystal-clear Adriatic waters create the perfect coastal escape in Makarska. Pine-lined promenades invite leisurely strolls along the waterfront while the Mediterranean charm of white stone buildings creates a relaxed atmosphere. The area offers a quieter alternative to Makarska's bustling centre, with just enough local activity to keep things interesting. Seasonal beachfront tavernas serve fresh seafood and Dalmatian specialities on sun-drenched terraces. Family-run apartments and guesthouses provide comfortable accommodation with sea views. Hotel Antonio
"Overall good stay and very close to the beach, which makes it a prime location to stay. It has what you beed, along with a great breakfast, spacious rooms, and a large balcony. Rooms could improve with more amenities such as body lotion and a separate shampoo and body wash. Also the showers are newly renovated but the plumbing isn’t strong so the water doesn’t drain very quickly. Easy fixes and could just be my room, otherwise no issues!"
Romana Beach Resort

"Excellent for a family stay! We stayed in an apartment with 2 bedrooms, had plenty of space! View of the sea was great, and location was perfect: short walk to the beach, bakery, restaurant or just getting some ice cream. Parking conveniently located on the lower level. Once we arrived and parked everything was very close, we had no need to even use the car until we left. Would absolutely return here and recommend to others."
