We liked the fact that the location of the hotel is in walking distance to the train station, old town district and nice hiking trails. I personally like hotel rooms with no carpet at I believe it's much cleaner with hardwood floors. That and the very nice rainforest shower made our stay very pleasant. After a long hike you want to kick off your hiking boots and enjoy a long shower :) The staff at the hotel was very friendly! When in Neustadt again, we will be back!

High marks for location
On the plus side: the breakfast was ample and attractive. Eggs were made-to-order. On the minus side: The elevator is barely big enough for two people with packbacks and is frequently out of order. On the plus side: the handsome, next-door restaurant serves excellent food graciously. The courtyard is lovely when the weather is good.

With 28 degrees outside, the heat shuts off in the rooms around 10pm and come back around 8am. If you get up early in the morning, taking a shower in an ice cold bathroom is not pleasant. My room 118 had a weird smell like mold and was very unpleasant.

Nice hotel in a former winery
The hotel is still in a good general condition. The walls in some rooms may need repainting due to a number of stains from suitcases or other objects. Nice and spacious sauna area. Good breakfast.

Value for money in Neustadt
Impressed by the whole hotel from the ease of parking to the check out experience. The room was a very nice size, bathroom had good quality fixtures and fittings and the bed was comfortable. Internet was super quick and free. Slept very well and it was nice and quiet outside to the inner courtyard. Breakfast offered a wide choice of cold cuts etc but no hot food items. 2 minor negatives - no air-con in the room and no minibar/fridge.

Too expensive for the quality of some rooms
This hotel is ok but just way too expensive, at least for the quality of a second category room I got (on the ground floor, in a separate building facing one of two busy streets in Neustadt). But the hotel is clean, new and well furnished, so I understand why some people give the Palatina high rates. I, personally, will certainly not be back.

Picked this hotel out when driving down the Weinstrasse and was not disappointed. The room was high standard and the staff very helpful. Taking a walk in town was also suprisingly nice, we found both good drinks and good food.

Ok but not for this price
The hotel is clean, the rooms are new and well furnished, but we got what seemed a second category room, outside the main building and facing a very busy street (in fact one of two really busy streets in Neustadt). The reception refused to give us another room (sorry, we're fully booked). The breakfast is fine but paid extra on top of a very steep price of the accommodation. I travel very much and I haven't felt this ripped off for years. Otherwise the hotel is fine, if you are lucky to get a proper room, I can understand you can give it 5 points out of 5.

Ok but not for this price
The hotel is certainly clean, the interiors are new and well furnished. However, I got some sort of a second-category room, in another building, on the ground floor, facing a very busy street (one of two main streets in this generally quiet town). The rate of 200 EUR per night (including breakfast) is a rip-off for this level of quality. I booked in advance, so I think they give the worst rooms to hotels.com customers. I will probably choose another hotel in Neustadt next time.
