Great hotel in lovely setting
This place is a real gem, lovely setting with views over the lagoon and rain trees. There is a great viewing platform where you can have a drink and watch not only the sunset but the giant fruit bats leaving the rain trees for there evening meal. The staff are without exception friendly and helpful and the food absolutely delicious. The owner is ever present and absolutely lovely and genuine he took us to see his farm, orchard and rice field just round the corner and treated us to a coconut juice from the orchard. Really eco friendly and locally produced vibe. The photos on line do not do this place justice.

Wonderful stay at the Raintree.
Amazing service and hospitality. Rooms were large and comfortable. The nearby fruit bats were interesting to watch and the views from the rooftop was wonderful. Highly recommended.

Excellent 4 star hotel
An excellent hotel with great views of the daily bird and bat migration and easily accessible to yala national park. Facilities excellent. Female staff excellent, informative, helpful and friendly. Males more salesman.
All reviews require a room for improvement which has to the be the cost of restaurant breakfast & buffet dinner which was shockingly high.

We are a couple who likes to travel and experience around Sri Lanka. We selected this place because of the nice surrounding and also good ratings they had. Actually we also felt that this is one of the best places around Katharagama and Tissa. Very clean and comfortable. Staff is very clean and helpful. You can get lots of information from them. And this place is perfect for bird watching.
Don't miss this place if you are planning to visit this area. Their buffet is one of the best around that area and they have some organic farms and you can enjoy some fresh / healthy meals.
If you're looking for a hotel that ticks all of the boxes for a great stay then look no further. The staff were magnificent.
On arrival the Receptionist greeted us with her lovely warm smile and promptly got us checked in and into our room. The catering staff were also very courteous and prepared us some great food.
The room was spacious and clean with good air con and you even get a view of monkeys jumping around in the trees! The location is great if you're looking to visit the national parks (Yala, uda, etc).
It was also my partner's birthday and they surprised him with a delicious birthday cake and a birthday message spelled out on the bed with flowers, a truly priceless gesture which really made our visit.
Putting all that aside the true wonder of this location is what happens at around 6.30pm. Thousands of bats fly away from their resting tree directly over the hotel and you can view this all from the rooftop balcony (literally a few feet above you) and it's simply magnificent. Seeing these elusive creatures in such vast numbers flying across the sunset sky was not only the highlight of my stay, but one of the highlights of my holiday in Sri Lanka.

Our stay at the hotel was great. The staff were lovely and very accommodating taking us get around the town when it was needed. The rooms are very modern, the best we stayed in Sri Lanka. Our Safari tour was organised and managed to see the majority of the animals and the driver was respectful. The bats from the top of the hotel are a must see also! Very pleasant stay.

Room not available
The room we had booked and paid for was not available. We had booked a family room (2 interconnecting rooms), however for the first night this room type was not available so we all had to share the same room. We were not compensated for this.

Lovely friendly hotel with a swiming pool
Lovely hotel near the lake with its own swimming pool. Very nice well educated staff who are happy to engage with you if you want them too. Handy for Jeep trips to Yala. . Great birdwatching platform above the roof off the hotel where you get a great view of the flying foxes ( fruit bats) leaving at dusk from the surrounding trees.

Lovely gardens and pool in a peaceful location
Feels very isolated when you first arrive but the grounds and garden are lovely and very peaceful, with plenty of seats in the shade to enjoy the views. The pool is great and very welcome on a hot day. Staff were great, organising a jeep safari and an onward car for us. Food is excellent. Only slight downside was the view from the balcony of our room, 101, which overlooked the car park.

Nice Place with magnificent views and experience
Magnificent view from room and we saw a lot flying foxes at the top of hotel roof. Big room and very com to stay. The manager Charilh friendly introduced us a lot about Safari tour but it was a pity my boyfriend got terrible fever and was not available to hang out early in the morning. To compensate the experience we went up to the roof and saw fantastic sunrise and sunset, many animals and Tissa Lake, Yatala Temple from the top of hotel. Thank you the Rain Tree(≧∇≦)b

Toll gelegenes freundliches Hotel

N8ce hotel cloce to a lake
The big rooms with tall windows and a balcony were a big advantage over other hotels I stayed in this country. The breakfast in the restaurant was good, dinner was buffet style with local and western food.
The hotel provides safaris to Bundala and Yala National Parks.

Nice hotel with big, comfortable rooms
From check in to check out a very nice expirience. The staff was very attentive. The rooms big and bright. The whole hotel with huge glass windows let the light come in. On the roof is a viewing deck with views over the lake. At sunset thousends of flying foxes left the rain trees and passed the hotel. What a sight!
This hotel is highly recommended for nature lovers.
