Reasonable comfort but beware of noise
Neat room without much fuss. Reasonable for the price. One disturbing matter was across the road from us on a friday morning at 630am there were sounds of piling and jack hammering !! No airconditioning hence window need to be opened but thats' where one can easily hear traffic sound.

Summer heat and no A/C?
I stayed in this off-campus housing choice for four nights as I waited to move into my University of Sydney housing. It was OK and felt somewhat run-down and smaller than I'd imagined. The most disappointing thing was that there was no A/C, and with it being 80-90 with 75%+ humidity, I did not sleep well at night.

Location, security quiet of this place all excellent. Bed nice and straight and if they improve mattress - that would be good. People most helpful and friendly. close to shops and funky Newtown but quiet in spite of busy road nearby. Outdoor area under trees a nice bonus.

Reminded me of a prison cell. Dirty marks where things had obviously splashed on walls and not been wiped off. Cheap, but not cheap enough for the room.

You get what you pay for.
This is not a bad option in a very expensive city.
The village is a pleasant location away from the noise of Newtown streets, but close to restaurants, and about a 10 min walk to the local swimming pool. Lack of air-con is a minus in hot Sydney. There is a games and tv room in a nearby part of the village, which is OK.
It is a bit of a hassle to find reception from Carrillon Avenue - stairs and poor signage - and there is a longish wait as all customers are booked in and taken to their rooms in different parts of the village by the only person at reception.
Although the website says reception is shut after business hours, there was someone available by phone 24 hrs.

Great location at a reasonable rate
Well located close to Newtown and the University of Sydney. Modern building. Fan cooled room still a bit hot in the heat wave. Plenty of tea bags in room but no coffee packets which I found a bit odd.

Mostly OK but with some housekeeping issues
In the middle of summer in a heatwave...mosquitoes. I got about two hours sleep.

No ceiling fan or air con
It was OK for its price for just one night. The linen appeared to have been slept by someone else, by the look of wrinkles and marks. Was disappointed that there was neither a ceiling fan or air con on a hot summer day of over 40 degrees.

Decent but no aircon
Dorm style rooms associated with Sydney Uni.
Younger crowd around and located in an excellent spot, but could get noisy (a few busy roads nearby etc) and the kickers for me - no air conditioning, no iron in the room. So at a cooler time of year, could be OK but if it's hot - probably a miss.
Staff super friendly too.

Extremely basic & dirty.
Arrived to find the bathroom was in desperate need of a clean. Grime & filth in the shower & basin. Toilet with marks & floaties! Disgusting. Fortunately staff moved us to another room. It was cleaner but still not what you expect at a hotel.
I know this is student accommodation but you expect cleanliness when you’re paying $130 a night. Odd smell in hallway & room.
Pillows were paperthin & matress was uncomfortable.
The only saving grace was the helpful staff however I will never stay here again.

After the confusion at the beginning, they tried to help and solve the issue. So make sure you retrain the expedia booking confirmation and present it at the reception. I was offered an upgrade, and I received a follow up phone call about the incident. The staff at the reception were friendly, but they are not hospitality professionals. I think you should take it into account that you are choosing a student accommodation. So I hadn't expected a hotel and I am not unhappy after my stay.

Cheap stay
The fan was broken and it was hot in the room and it smelt like something had died although the kitchen was clean.
There was a cockroach in my room.
The bed was quite comfy and the linen was clean.

If you're not a student don't stay here
The room I was allocated was within a 5 bedroom apartment that I had to share with other people I did not know. The kitchen and bathroom were filthy with old soap in the shower and rubbish in the bins. The accommodation was very noisy with late night partying outside my window. All the is accommodation is totally unsuitable for anyone travelling for business that needs a good nights sleep.

Quick stay in Sydney
I love staying on campus and reliving student days. Room had ensuite bathroom and a fan. Air con would have been nice on hottest day of summer but not necessary most of the year. Close to Newtown and all the food and funky shops there. Great cheap place to stay overnight when a room is available.

Inexpensive Student Campus Accommodation
Student summer break accommodation. Single lockable bedroom in a shared 4 bedroom on campus apartment. Clean but basic student accommodation. Friendly staff and security. Close to Newtown shops, bars and public transport.
