I booked online using my debit Visa. No issues that I was aware of.
My car broke down on the way in, so I was very late. I called 3 different times to let them know I was still coming.
I called once we were back on the road again and the gentleman told me that there was an issue with my card but that I could pay with my debit card when I got there, I would just have to pay a $200 deposit which I would get back after we've checked out and the room was clean.
That was great. I received a phone call the following morning about 8 AM letting me know that my card declined and that a credit card was mandatory and then 20 minutes later, they canceled my reservation and I received this via email. I was coming through banff when they called me. So my cell service was awful, so I was yelling so that he could hear me. Unfortunately, this translated to him thinking I was screaming at him, which it was not great.
I then had to spend the remainder of my drive in working on getting a credit card added on which was an entirely convoluted difficult process.
It would have been really helpful to know in advance that the day prior to my arrival is when they changed their policy. The manager, I believe she said she was said that somebody had used a debit card for another room rental and then left damages. Once we got there and got checked in, everything went smoothly from that point.
