My stay itself was great - the third time I’ve stayed at this hotel, and the location, vibe, rooms and staff have been great.
However, my opinion of the hotel has gone downhill since I asked them to return to me a water bottle I’d left in the room and they asked for £20 for the service! (Which would cost c£5 through Royal Mail. Even adding a small amount for packaging, they are clearly profiteering rather than looking after guests). I then asked if they could keep it for me until I return to London and they said they could not, and my only option was to pay the £20.
I’ve gone from loving this hotel, and it being my ‘go-to’ for London trips, to feeling ripped off by then.
Oh, and by the way, I also paid the optional £8 service charge when I checked out as the team had been lovely - how can they take this money then look to profit from guests misadventure. Rant over.
