The hotel was clean and had a good location. A major problem was the power went out in my parents' building for 10 hours and the hotel did not have a generator or backup plan, even though we hear that it is a regular occurrence in Death Valley.

Motel basique au prix d’un 5*. Aucune isolation phonique avec les chambres adjacentes et l’extérieur, odeur de vieilles chaussettes et de chien mouillé dans la chambre. Ils profitent du fait qu’ils sont le seul hôtel dans le parc de la Vallée de la mort. Le restaurant est bon et le staff de tout le lieu est très agréable.

This was a perfect spot to stay in Death Valley NP. The location was in the middle of the park. The hotel had a saloon, restaurant, general store, gift shop, and a year round pool. The rooms were spacious and clean. The room came with the typical bathroom supplies, hair dryer, and refrigerator. This location was perfect for catching the sunrise at Mesquite flats just a 2 min drive away.

The staff did not fully service my room when requested. The room was not was I was expecting based on the photos. A disappointment. The walls are thin. Could hear my neighbors who were up late. The soap dispenser was empty for conditioner.

This hotel has a policy of not letting anyone check in until 4PM. I’ve been to many hotels that have a set check in time that always allow an early check-in and even when they don’t, they still let you check in and just tell you, don’t go to your room until that time. Unfortunately, this hotel’s practice creates a giant line at 4 PM. It was 5:30PM before I got to my room when I arrived at 2PM.

The room was spacious and clean. A nice walk-in shower, though would have preferred a glass door to a shower curtain that let lots of water into the rest of the bathroom. Nice to have a separate (in room outside the toilet/shower room) sink with spacious counter area. Room was quiet, TV, though small, had a good selection of channels and wifi worked even if it wasn't the speediest. The room had the quietest air conditioner I've come across perhaps ever. It was very effective, esp. relevant in Death Valley. Restaurant was good, food at dinner was better than some of the other spots in DV/Furnace Creek area, and wait staff were very friendly and responsive. Breakfast buffet was okay--nothing to write home about but the selection wasn't bad and reasonably priced at $15 per person. The coffee was HORRIBLE weak brown liquid, though, and they charge extra for 'specialty' coffees. The manager, Irene, was terrific and very customer-focused and courteous. Of the three times I've stayed in DV, the other times at the lodging at Furnace Creek, I would definitely pick Stovepipe Wells as the best of the bunch, and certainly worth the price of $258 per night (including all taxes).
